And a happy wallet. He’s on top of the world since “Sherlock Holmes” turned out to be a hit – 400 million dollars worldwide – despite mixed reviews. Ritchie has offers, and he was thinking about directing an action thriller “Lobo,“ but he’ decided to strike while the iron is hot and get to work on another Sherlock Holmes movie. All the original stars have agreed to return. Life after Madonna isn’t so bad.

MADONNA AND MERCY JOIN THE RITCHIES IN LONDON

A few days ago, Guy Ritchie arrived in the UK with his sons Rocco and David and today Madonna flew in with Mercy. Apparently Lourdes is spending the holidays with her father Carlos Leon in New York. It looks like Madonna and Guy’s kids will be having a Kabbalah holiday celebration of some sort together in London– probably with their divorced parents. Very civilized.

Guy Ritchie arrived in London with his sons Rocco, 9, and David, 4, where they will apparently spend the holidays together. The question is: Will the boys be allowed to have a tree and gifts? Madonna banned the observance of Christmas when she became involved in Kabbalah. Knowing how controlling she is, we’re betting Guy wouldn’t DARE defy Madonna and enjoy an old fashioned Christmas with his sons. But he’s grateful to have Rocco and David with him.

Sherlock Holmes’ nemesis Mark Strong is the hottest villain in any movie we can remember. If you think you know what Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes” is going to be like, you’re probably wrong. Guy has turned Holmes (Robert Downey Jr) into a Superhero! The sets and costumes are gorgeous and appropriate, but this is an ACTION MOVIE, not unlike Batman. Explosions, crashes, and life threatening situations abound with special effects – aimed at the teenage boy mentality. We prefer a more cerebral Holmes with an intricate plot and clues, but this might be right up your alley.

Guy Ritchie’s having fun being single, but there’s only one female he’s been seen with several times. He was photographed in June with a pretty brunette in Malibu where they had dinner and were seen on the beach. It took awhile, but the mystery girl has finally been identified as dancer/ actress Mellany Gandara, 26. Significantly, she was recently seen with Guy at his pub in London. Mellany appeared in “Iron Man” with Robert Downey Jr, and he supposedly introduced her to his pal Guy.

Guy Ritchie is continuing to enjoy the company of his sons Rocco and David in Liverpool where Sherlock Holmes is filming. Here he is leaving a restaurant with the boys. How long Madonna will allow Guy to have Rocco and David with him is unknown, but she’ll certainly want them back for the holidays.

Guy Ritchie had his two boys Rocco and David visit the set of Sherlock Holmes today and he introduced them to the cast and crew. (Oops- wasn’t “meeting new friends” forbidden on Madonna’s do’s and don’ts list?) If the divorce is really settled and Guy refused to take any money in exchange for access to his kids, he emerges as some kind of hero. And when Madonna goes public with A-Rod, she’ll look all the worse.

Guy Ritchie might be interested to know that Madonna’s rules for herself are a lot looser than the list she sent him when it comes to their kids. When Madonna sent Rocco and David to visit their father in London last week she included a strict list of do’s and don’ts that clearly spelled out what they could eat and drink and who they could or could not meet. “No new friends” she warned. Ironically, it has just been revealed that on the day of Madonna’s concert in LA – November 6- Lourdes and Alex Rodriguez were reportedly seen SHOPPING TOGETHER in Barneys in Beverly Hills. Unfortunately, there were no paparazzi outside that day.

It’s not often that you see TWO of those hard boiled sexy English gangsters from Guy Ritchie’s “Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels” and “Snatch.” But apparently Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones are friends in real life. They had lunch at Cafe Med and joked with paparazzi about doing a gay movie together. We think they both look better with shaved heads.

Madonna has laid out the ground rules of her divorce and they include all the friends that she and Guy Ritchie share. Or DID share. According to the NY Post, Madonna has announced to all their shared friends that they must CHOOSE sides. They cannot continue to be friends with both parties. Among those caught in the middle of the split are Sting and his wife Trudie Styler – who introduced the Ritchies. Also, Sacha Baron Cohen and his wife Isla will have to pick a side. Madonna made this rule because she doesn’t want to share custody, or some other kind of information with a friend, and have it get back to Guy. It’ll be interesting to see who walks away with which friends.

Madonna and Guy Ritchie have been living in limbo for months because they both felt their marriage was over, but didn’t know how or when to end it. Madonna wanted to postpone it until the end of her tour because that was convenient for HER. Meanwhile she’s had her exboyfriend (Lourdes’ father) Carlos Leon living in her New York apartment overseeing renovations in preparation for her living there. She and Carlos have become chummy of late. Guy didn’t like the fact that Madonna was trying to adopt an African baby girl even though their marriage was ending. He’s been happier than ever directing Sherlock Holmes in London and he finally asserted himself and insisted on announcing the split now and getting it over with. Friends say they have grown apart and are both better off separated – it’s the children who will complicate the divorce.

Guy Ritchie looks like he’s making a comeback. His RocknRolla was surprisingly entertaining, and now he’s filming Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr in the title role. Robert’s clothing makes him look less stuffy than the usual Holmes, and rather modern in a neo-romantic way. This photo was taken at a London location. Rachel McAdams is costarring with Jude Law as Dr Watson. Oh, and Mark Strong, that good looking guy who played Archie in RocknRolla is in it too.

Most of the press declared her marriage was OVER last month. Guess who has the last laugh? Madonna sexed up her look with big eyelashes, a sheer chiffon dress, and high boots.

The Ritchies showed family unity (minus David) this weekend by walking from their building to a nearby movie theater together. Lourdes brought along a lookalike friend and Madonna seemed to have more clothes on than anyone else on this warm day. Also we notice that in all her recent photos, Madonna’s hair looks like she just hopped out of the shower. What movie do you suppose they saw?

Bits and pieces of Christoper Ciccone’s book “Life with My Sister Madonna “ are leaking out, and it’s not as shocking as we hoped. Christopher admits that when her husband Guy Ritchie came into Madonna’s life, it was the death knell for Chris’s relationship with his sister. He describes Guy as a “man’s man” who isn’t bothered by homophobic humor. In other words he laughs at gay jokes. Not a good thing, but so far that’s the worst thing he’s said about Guy. He also thinks they won’t divorce because they are committed to staying married. Let’s hope the book is juicier than the leaks.

The plot thickens. This weekend Guy Ritchie arrived in New York to see Madonna and the kids and he refused to comment on divorce rumors, just as she does. His mother, of course, DID deny there were marriage problems, but she might be the last to know. Now we hear that Guy is planning a big 50th birthday party for Madonna – 200 people at their country home in August. Guy is also planning to watch the kids while Madonna tours in the US. We aren’t convinced that divorce is imminent, and still have a hard time believing that their marriage is over. (Interesting how Madonna was all decked out in Ed Hardy to visit the Kabbalah temple. Is that Guy Oseary behind her?)

At last! Guy Ritchie has FINALLY asserted himself with his domineering wife Madonna. Reports in England say he is FINISHED with Kabbalah. Madonna has pretty much shoved the cult down his throat and many of her friends. At first Guy tried to get into it to keep Madonna happy. But he’s become increasingly doubtful of the organization and it’s motivations. He didn’t like being publicized as a member and was suspicious of their finances. We’re THRILLED that Guy has come to his senses. We hope it doesn’t break up their marriage – will Madonna feel compelled to choose between her “religion” and her husband?
