Heather Locklear showed up for work today on the set of Melrose Place, looking more than ready to crank up the bitch factor on the series. (Ironically, in real life, Heather is as far from a bitch as one can get.) She’s reprising her role as the conniving Amanda Woodard, but we won’t know until November 17 exactly how she fits into the show plot-wise. Hopefully, all the substance abuse problems she wrestled with in 2008 are history. Heather’s always happiest when she’s working.

Things ARE shaping up for Heather Locklear. She and Jack Wagner are still together in spite of Heather’s recent DUI misadventures. When she showed up a few weeks ago for her daughter Ava’s soccer game with her exhusband Richie Sambora, observers speculated that she and Jack were history. But Jack is hanging in there and they look happy together at Ava’s soccer game THIS week.

There IS a bright side to Heather Locklear’s recent DUI arrest. That would be THIS booking photo. We’ve seen a lot of mug shots and this has to be one of the most flattering of all time. Leave it to Santa Barbara police to have great lighting. There is a lot of conversation about Heather’s supposed despair about her declining beauty. If this photo doesn’t cheer her up, nothing will. She doesn’t have a line on her face and looks weepy, but very young and vulnerable. With huge innocent eyes. Most people in her situation look haggard and skeevy with black circles and other abominations. Since this photo may follow her for years to come, Heather does have something to be grateful for.

IT'S TIME FOR HEATHER LOCKLEAR TO FACE THE MUSIC

Maybe Heather Locklear’s arrest for driving under the influence will finally make her aware of her own state of denial. According to acquaintances, Heather has been abusing prescription painkillers every day for around 20 years. Specifically vicodin. This kind of long term pill popping can easily lead to kidney damage and the need for dialysis. One of her exboyfriends is hooked on the same pills so they had a great time while it lasted. Obviously, Heather’s recent aborted attempt at rehab where she claimed it was for “depression,” didn’t help at all. It makes one rethink the possible causes for her divorce from Richie Sambora. Heather is well liked in Hollywood and everyone hopes she’ll finally get a grip on this problem.

HEATHER LOCKLEAR CHECKED OUT OF REHAB EARLY

To be honest, sweet little Heather Locklear is one of the last people we ever expected to land in rehab. But since her divorce from Richie Sambora her personal problems have escalated. According to the Enquirer, Heather didn’t deliver herself to rehab to treat her “depression and anxiety” – she actually needed help with her addictions to alcohol, cocaine, and sleeping pills. On June 19 she checked into the Sierra Tucson clinic for treatment, but like Amy Winehouse , she checked OUT way too soon – on July 4! Her publicist says she’s still in treatment somewhere – we hope it’s true.

This fling that Heather Locklear has been having with Jack Wagner seems to be working out. (Certainly better than her turn with David Spade.) They’ve been inseparable for months, and Jack has been sloooowly moving stuff into her Westlake Village home. Minor things like clothes, toiletries, personal objects and necessities – but day by day he has more square feet staked out. Heather’s ex Richie Sambora must feel more out in the cold than ever.

So it’s true. Heather Locklear and Jack Wagner have been seen out together and there was much speculation about whether they are just two single “buddies” or a hot new couple. The pair have been friends since they did Melrose Place together and now it so happens they are both available. Judging by their body language at Mr Chow the other night they are more than just friends. Jack was very touchy feely with Heather and she was acting flirty and coy. Actually, they could pass for brother and sister in the looks department.

What’s wrong with this picture? Just about everything. Is Heather Locklear having a schizophrenic lapse in taste? She can’t decide if it’s winter or summer. It’s a warm day in Beverly Hills so Heather wore an 80’s retro print halter dress- which she accessorizes with a LONG WOOL SCARF and zebra print bag! (We’re not even going to mention the fact that she seems to have added a few inches to her bustline.) The one redeeming feature, as always, is her cute smile.

DAVID SPADE: MORE OF HIM TO LOVE

We can’t help but comment on the fact that David Spade is starting to look a bit pudgy – especially in the caboose- in all the recent photos we’ve seen of him. Female actors are tortured about their weight all the time but a male actor usually has to gain about a hundred pounds before anyone pays attention. David has always been super skinny so it’s a novelty for him to look heftier. Maybe Heather Locklear is a bad iinfluence – she’s always said she can eat ANYTHING and never gain a pound and David might be trying to keep up with her.

It’s Sting’s birthday today, but you can bet he still won’t invite Diana Ross to any parties. She upset her Malibu Colony neighbors when she got the gate guard fired because the guy was a big fan and had the nerve to ask her for an autograph. The neighbors, including Heather Locklear, Pam Anderson, Mel Gibson, and Sting, were not happy because they really liked the fellow, who had worked there a long time. Miss Ross is not particularly sociable with the people living near her and keeps to herself. Sting was especially outraged and he worked to get the guard rehired.

MORE THAN A PASSING ACQUAINTANCE WITH A TREADMILL

Sometimes we can’t RESIST correcting misdemeanors. The September 18 issue of a popular celebrity weekly claimed that Heather Locklear bought David Spade a gym membership at Sports Club LA in Beverly Hills. The story went on to detail that “David is putting himself through hell to get in shape for his girlfriend Heather” and that he “had hardly ever seen the inside of a gym until she bought him the membership. ” Beside the fact that David and Heather had split up long before he was seen at the gym “dripping in sweat for Heather,” David has been working out in various local gyms for YEARS. Since the Sports Club LA opened last year he’s been seen there nearly EVERY DAY on the treadmill – sometimes watching the E! channel. He worked out (and flirted with girls in the gym) long before he dated Heather and he still does. Where DO they get those stories?

Is David Spade quietly juggling yet ANOTHER bereft divorcee? He likes to step in and console vulnerable women who’ve suddenly become single. Clever Spade makes em laugh – and we all know that’s the best medicine! It worked for Heather Locklear, didn’t it? What Heather doesn’t know is that Dave seems to have turned his attention to the newly vulnerable Carmen Electra. Apparently Dave Navarro wasn’t that funny. Last week Dave and Carmen were seen having an animated conversation, driving together near the Beverly Center in his black Mercedes. The pocket size romeo was also seen with an unidentified woman fitting Carmen’s description, ducking out of one of his favorite hangouts – the Grove movie theater. Last night at the Teen Choice Awards they sat together and “looked absolutely giddy.”
