BILLY IDOL STILL HAS THAT WHIPLASH SMILE

Billy Idol left the black leather at home because he’s at LAX on his way to Las Vegas where he’s performing in residence at the House of Blues. How he survived the 80’s, we’ll never know. He must have overdosed (mostly in parking lots) half a dozen times and had AWFUL motorcycle accidents, (biking high is never a good idea) Once he nearly lost a leg. Billy wrote his autobiography a few years ago called “Dancing with Myself” and fans of that indulgent era might be advised to pick it up – it’s loaded with juicy stories.

AMERICAN IDOL’S JASON CASTRO IS STILL A SWEETHEART

Jason Castro is still on of our all-time favorite American Idol contestants that didn’t win. Last weekend he and his band played at the San Diego House of Blues with his younger brother Michael as his opening act. While the guys were unloading equipment and beer from the van, Jason took time to be nice to fans. He may be married, but he’s still adorable.

BRITNEY SPEARS HAS A SECRET CRUSH ON ROBIN THICKE

britcut robin.jpg
Britney Spears couldn’t resist attending Robin Thicke’s performance at the House of Blues Thursday night even though the experience was bittersweet. Brit has long harbored a crush on Robin – back in 2004 she reportedly was seen with him a few times, looking affectionate. (This was before she met Kevin Federline.) No romance developed but she admitted she was very fond of him and would like to have gotten to know him better. Robin’s happily married now, so Britney’s just another fan with a backstage pass.

GIVE SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE A CHANCE – AT THE HOUSE OF BLUES

slycutjpg
Sly, along with some of The Family Stone are still trying to forge a comeback and they’re booked Friday, April 25, at the House of Blues in Anaheim. Let’s hope the show is longer than the brief but tantalizing appearance he made onstage at the 2006 Grammys. It’s only too easy to imagine what happened to Sly in all these years since his raging popularity in the funk-mad early 70’s. (He was the first rockstar we ever saw with a portable phone – it was the size of a thick briefcase. Sly wanted to be able to call his lawyer at the drop of a rolled up hundred dollar bill.) He’s got a bad back and he’s hunched over now. Sly says he fell off a cliff walking in his yard. We just hope he shows up Friday – with or without the mohawk.
