MICHAEL GANDOLFINI IS ENJOYING HIS FATHER’S LEGACY

Life is good for Michael Gandolfini. And why not? He’s only 19 years old and already starring in a major feature film – Newark (formerly The Many Saints of Newark) playing the younger version of his father James Gandolfini’s beloved character Tony Soprano. The movie is set in the 1960’s and features the Newark race riots. It won’t be released until September 2020, and Michael already has two other movies under his belt, and you saw him in a recurring role on The Deuce. On top of that he has a cute new girlfriend!

DOES THIS SMILE LOOK FAMILIAR?

James Gandolfini’s son Michael, 19, is set to star in a prequel to The Sopranos called The Many Saints of Newark. You may remember, the last scene of The Sopranos was filmed in this booth at Holsten’s ice cream parlor in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Holsten’s owner made the most of the event by putting a sign at the booth dedicated to the Sopranos and he posted this photo of Micheal after he paid the place a visit…

HBO LURED ANOTHER BIGTIME MOVIE STAR TO TV: ROBERT DENIRO

Another first. Following in Michael Douglas’s footsteps, Robert DeNiro has agreed to star in “Criminal Justice,” a seven episode mini series for HBO. He’s taking the role the late James Gandolfini was originally signed to play. It’s the story of an ambulance chasing personal injury lawyer who finds himself in a heap of trouble when he takes on a murder case. We have a feeling this is going to be really good because it was written by Richard Price, who wrote one of our favorite movies, “The Wanderers.”

JAMES GANDOLFINI DIED WITH A FULL STOMACH

The loss of James Gandolfini at the age of 51 is truly an American tragedy. Many fans cherished the hope that The Sopranos would return in a movie. Unfortunately, James was stuggling with alcohol again. His self destructive last meal at 7 PM on the night he died was at the Boscolo Exedra Roma hotel restaurant, according to the NY Post. He dined with his 13 year old son Michael and managed to down two pina coladas, 4 shots of rum, and two beers with the meal. Gandolfini consumed two orders of deep fried prawns covered in mayonnaise chili sauce, and a large portion of foie gras. Michael had his own meal and two virgin coladas. Three hours later James Gandolfini was discovered in cardiac arrest. So sad.

EXCUSE ME, IS THAT TONY SOPRANO IN THE GUN DEPARTMENT?

A friend of ours was gazing in the showcase of the gun department at Big 5 Sporting Goods on Wilshire when he became aware of someone’s labored breathing next to him and it sounded oddly familiar. He looked up and the man said with a thick New York accent “They sell guns here?” It was James Gandolfini, clad in sweatpants and sneakers (no gold jewelry.) The Sopranos star and a buddy glanced at the guns, but they drifted over to the knife department and purchased pocket knives.

JAMES GANDOLFINI MARRIED A HOT MODEL

debcut.jpeg
James Gandolfini, 46, has had enough of being single (he divorced his wife Marcy in 2002) so he got married this weekend in Hawaii. The Sopranos star has been engaged to his girlfriend Deborah Lin, 40, for a year, and walked down the aisle in her hometown. We don’t think former model Deborah’s wedding photo does her justice so we’re including one of her sex modeling pix.

JAMES GANDOLFINI CAN BE VERY PERSUASIVE

gandolfinicut.jpg
James Gandolfini is going from playing a mob boss to playing a cult leader. Not a big stretch. He has a deal with HBO and he’s agreed to star in a miniseries about Jim Jones the charismatic leader of the Peoples Temple who led the group in mass suicide in 1978. Jones had moved 1000 church members to Guyana to set up a utopian society called Jonestown, but the group was struggling and Jones was secretly addicted to drugs. In the end over 900 men women and children were dead – mostly from cyanide poisoning.

JAMES GANDOLFINI: ONE PHOTO CAN CHANGE EVERYTHING

jamescutgandolfini921022922.jpgMany celebrities are a little grouchy at 7:45 in the morning – especially when they’re at the airport and fans want photographs. James Gandolfini, clad in a black silk embroidered Chinese shirt, khaki pants, and sandals with socks, was at the San Francisco airport this week, quietly browsing in the magazine shop. When two fans asked him to pose for a picture, he winced, knowing what was to follow, but obliged. What followed was that suddenly everyone NOTICED the Sopranos star (despite his decidedly non-Tony Soprano garb) and made a huge fuss, pulling out cellphones, gaping and calling out to him. Because of that first photo, James remained the reluctant but affable center of attention in the waiting area until his plane took off.
