Grove shoppers were surprised when Janet Jackson made an appearance on a balcony to promote her new CD “Number Ones,” which will be released on November 17. The album features 33 songs that went to number one around the world. Janet must be VERY eager to promote this collection – she’s never appeared at The Grove before. She didn’t perform. She watched a group of dancers on the ground grooving to some of her biggest hits, and threw kisses to the excited crowd. She IS set to perform at the opening of the AMA’s on November 22, however.

Janet Jackson is wearing the most unflattering pair of harem pants we’ve ever seen in the photo of her leaving Italy. She and her on again off again boyfriend Jermaine Dupri are on again and he’s moved back into her house. Janet surprised Jermaine on his birthday in September in Milan and that rebooted their romance. They’ve resume their arrangement whereby he takes her out to dinner and then he takes her home and goes out himself with his buddies. Janet doesn’t mind – she’s not hot for nightclubs.

One reason that Jermaine Dupri hasn’t been seen in the company of his off-again on-again girlfriend Janet Jackson is because there’s a good chance that she will get custody of Michael’s three children. Jermaine says he never goes to funerals and has been avoiding the hoopla over Michael, while Janet spends most of her time with her family, making numerous decisions. Katherine Jackson has temporary custody of the children, but Janet has bonded with them and volunteered to raise them. The family agrees that Michael would have approved. Jermaine is keeping a low profile until things are settled.

Janet Jackson appears to have renewed her friendship with Jermaine Dupri, judging by this photo of them at the Waverly Inn. They haven’t been together for months. An insider says their relationship isn’t as romantic as it appears. They’re longtime friends, but it’s become more of a convenience. Jermaine continues to go out and date anyone he wants in LA and Atlanta. When he and Janet are both in LA, they travel in completely different circles and go out to clubs with other friends. The insider thinks Janet has “other” interests close to home, and uses Jermaine to distract the press from her private life.

Instant replay! In December Janet Jackson arrived back in LA from Atlanta and her first order of business was to grab a friend and drive forty miles to a strip mall in Tarzana to the El Chavo Mexican restaurant for her favorite food. She got the urge again this weekend and she picked up a male friend (probably not a boyfriend because she didn’t exactly doll herself up) and they raced to El Chavo for another taco/burrito fix. Janet does seem a bit thinner this time around, although it looks like she and K-Fed shop in the same clothing store.

Jermaine has been going out without Janet Jackson for months now, but nobody believes they’re broken up. (Obviously not enough of them are reading THIS website.) Jermaine continues to flirt with girls and insist he’s single but for some reason they aren’t convinced. They probably figure it’s just a tiff and he and Janet will make up. Janet Jackson’s off-again on-again boyfriend Jermaine Dupri is not in good graces with the new SLS Hotel on La Cienega in Beverly Hills.The hotel flew him into town and gave him a lavish suite for the weekend because he agreed to bring Janet for the hotel’s opening. Janet never showed up, but Jermaine lived it up all weekend, partying and hitting all the Hollywood clubs. The hotel is justifiably miffed because they spent a lot of money for Janet to show up and Jermaine is hardly a substitute.

Jermaine Dupri is in the doghouse. Not only did he reportedly puke on Janet Jackson’s lap at his birthday party, his contributions to her career have been disappointing. He gave Mariah Carey lots of hits but hasn’t done the same for his girlfriend Janet. He created the concept for her tour and also arranged parties for Janet after every show. She’s been exhausted by the rigorous show and the partying is too much for her. She’s just not as young and energetic as she used to be. Janet cancelled tour dates and took a rest in Atlanta at a health spa recovery place. Janet’s management disagrees with Jermaine (they blame him for many of her failures) and they stopped him from visiting her. Jermaine was told “You’re not her boyfriend any more.” Jermaine took off for New York and he and Janet are speaking on the phone. Where their relationship stands, no one knows for sure.

Each spring, Anna Wintour, the terrifying editor of Vogue, has an extravagant party – the Met’s Costume Institute Gala – and everybody dresses to kill. This year Anna declared the theme was “superheroes” (whatever THAT means) and strongly advised invitees to dress accordingly. She ordered all her Vogue staffers to wear white or silver. Faced with this dilemma, stars’ imaginations scattered in all directions.
Scarlett Johansson and Janet Jackson played it safe by wearing white. Scarlett is adorable in her “ballerina gone bad” outfit – especially since it’s accessorized with her new engagement ring from Ryan Reynolds. Janet’s dress is not that interesting or original but her skin looks gorgeous next to white.
This Olsen Twins photo is noteworthy most of all because they are BOTH SMILING! Ashley and Mary-Kate are starting to look less and less alike. We love the sheer frivolity of Eva Longoria’s bold purple pleated silk gown with a train- now THAT’S a party dress!
