John Goodman

JOHN GOODMAN IS TWO THIRDS OF THE MAN HE USED TO BE

Nice to see that John Goodman is keeping off the 100 plus pounds he’s lost since the original Roseanne series went off the air. His character Dan Conner is a much healthier looking person now – because John not only walks more, but he works out, gave up alcohol and sticks to a Mediterranean diet. (We remember years ago when John would check into a hotel somewhere and binge – just drink all day and night and order pizzas.) His new look hasn’t impaired the show at all, and Roseanne is looking more glamorous this time around also…

HERE COMES ROSEANNE: TWENTY YEARS LATER

Next fall is going to feel like the 90’s revisited because not only is Will & Grace making a comeback, but now Roseanne – (and they had a larger cast!) – has managed to reassemble. Roseanne’s blue collar family and their economic struggle was a huge hit for nearly a decade, but it seems like nowadays reality shows like Here Comes Honey Boo Boo have taken their place. Frankly, we’re surprised that John Goodman is returning to TV and the family’s kids are now grown and will probably have kids of their own. Actually it’s kind of fun to imagine Goodman’s character Dan with a smart phone…

IT’S A GOOD YEAR FOR JOHN GOODMAN

We don’t often see John Goodman, 64, and his family because they live in New Orleans, but they all turned up for his Walk of Fame ceremony this week. Goodman is a lucky guy – he’s been married since 1989 and his long-suffering wife Annabeth has put up with a LOT. John has had a major problem with alcohol over the years and he finally got sober in 2007. And of course, he also has a problem with FOOD and has weighed up to 400 lbs! He seems to have his life in control now, and he helped his daughter Molly find work as a Production Assistant. We LOVED John in last year’s 10 Cloverfield Lane.

JOHN GOODMAN AND JOHN SLATTERY: FACES ON THE WALL AT SARDI’S

There’s something sweet about that old tradition of restaurants having caricatures of celebrity customers on their walls. The Brown Derbys in Hollywood did it, and The Palm, but the only place carrying on seems to be Sardi’s in New York in the theater district. John Goodman and John Slattery are starring on Broadway in the surprise hit revival The Front Page and they were honored by having their faces added to the wall of caricatures. Note that the drawings are a LOT more flattering than they used to be!

JOHN GOODMAN PUT AA FLIGHT ATTENDANTS TO SHAME

AG_088188_00goodcut

Prolific actor and Roseanne star John Goodman always SEEMED like a super-nice guy but now we have PROOF. We were told about a family traveling from Dallas to London and they were upgraded to first class. The mom sat with her toddler on her lap and her seat-mate happened to be JOHN GOODMAN! Five minutes before take-off the little boy started projectile vomiting in all directions! He got the mom, the seats, her luggage and everybody’s clothing! The American Airlines fight attendants backed off and refused to deal with the situation while while John goodnaturedly jumped up and ran back and forth from the bathroom with paper towels to wipe everybody off. (Including himself – luckily he was already dressed in the airline pajamas) His thoughtful wife Annabeth even kindly offered the mom clean clothing out of her own suitcase. The distraught mother apologized profusely. The plane stopped and the AA cleanup crew escorted the family off the plane. They all remember John Goodman as a HERO in the crisis and the toddler even recognized his voice from Monsters Inc.

ROSEANNE AND JOHN GOODMAN REUNITE IN A TRAILER PARK

The timing might be right for Roseanne to make a splash in the sitcom world again. Reality TV has proved that there’s a huge market for working class blue collar American humor and nobody does it better. Roseanne’s enlisted writers from her original Roseanne show (which was a hit from 1988 to 1997) for her new NBC pilot “Downwardly Mobile.” She plays the proprietor of a trailer park full of colorful characters and a new character was just added – Roseanne’s TV husband John Goodman. He’ll play an outspoken worker at the mobile home park. Hopefully this won’t interfere with her run for President….
