Kathy Griffin knows she needs controversial guests (like Britney’s ex Adnan Ghalib last season) on her reality show “My Life on the D-List,’ so she finagled rapper T.I. to hang with her. Maybe she wants a prison pen pal. Later this month, T.I. is going to jail for a year for two gun felonies. The unlikely twosome had a snack at Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘n Waffles and strolled on the Boulevard while cameras rolled.

What a surprise- Anderson Cooper showed up at The House of Blues in LA (with an unidentified woman.). His CNN New Year’s Eve show with Kathy Griffin was a big success. When the usually chatty Kathy is asked about rumors of Anderson’s sexual orientation she clams up. Is she giving him a free pass? Kathy says Cooper wants to deliver the news, not BE the news, and she agrees with that. So there. And of course, she is already booked to do New Years Eve again next year with Cooper.

If this is what Steve Wozniak did to Kathy Griffin, we’re glad the billionaire is no longer her boyfriend. We are, of course referring to Kathy’s Washington DC hostess hairdo. It’s way too conservative, considering her personality. Now that they’ve split up and Kathy says he has another girlfriend, we wonder if Steve was using Kathy to make himself more attractive to other women. Dating Kathy made him more desirable, right? Because she flew into Vegas ON HER OWN on the budget airline Southwest and stood in line at the Burbank airport like everyone else. (Steve did not send a private plane for her.) Funnily enough, Pink was waiting for the same plane – also alone- and she looked a bit leery of Kathy. But Kathy started chatting with Pink and won her over. The two gals sat on the plane together and laughed and gossiped all the way.

Barbara Walters ought to be ashamed of herself for foisting the absurdly overpaid and undereducated Sherri Shepherd upon her unsuspecting viewers. And here we always thought The View was intended to enlighten it’s audience with the hosts’ timely conversations about news events! We still can’t figure out why Barbara bypassed intelligent and amusing Kathy Griffin and added Sherri to the show instead. A woman who doesn’t believe in SCIENCE! Shepherd admits she doesn’t believe in evolution, period. Surely this declaration is enough to drive away any viewer with over a fifth grade education. We only wish Kathy had been there when Sherri said it.

We can barely conceal our agitation over the news that Kathy’s Griffin’s creative arts Emmy acceptance speech will be CENSORED! Kathy won for her reality show “My Life on the D-List.” This secondary Emmy show airs Saturday night on E and the bigtime Emmy show airs the following night. All this fuss because she made fun of JESUS! Kathy wisecracked “A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus. She topped it off with “Hell has frozen over. Suck it Jesus, this award is my god now!” The Catholic League called her remarks “obscene” and E buckled and promised to edit. How those Catholic priests have the nerve to criticize ANYBODY is beyond us. We predict that Kathy’s ahead of her time – Jesus will become a major target of sarcasm in the future. And it’s about time.

We could hardly wait to get our hands on the new issue of Frontiers because we heard there was Kathy Griffin scoop in it. Sure enough, there was one of Kathy’s “main gays” on the cover. Remember her two “best gays” that were prominently featured in the first season of her show “My Life on the D-List?” Before the series even aired they had been banished from her life. After ten years of friendship. Handsome Tony Tripoli revealed WHY. He insists it had NOTHING to do with the fact that they were not paid to be on the show. He says the friendship didn’t end over one specific argument – it was what he calls “A blossoming lack of kindness and gratitude” on her part. (We suspect it COULD have something to do with the way she treated her husband Matt.) Tony says “I want to live in a world with a little more kindness.” Tony has a role on new series Fashion House and he might be amused to hear that Kathy was seen last weekend flying ECONOMY on Southwest to Oakland where she took the SHUTTLE (no limo) to her show in Napa.

Beige on Tuesday nights at Falcon is even more fun than everyone’s been telling me! The food was yummy (lamb chops) and the crowd was eclectic. Here are some highlights from last night:
Falcon was abuzz because Mayor Villaraigosa was dining without fanfare in a back booth. Andy Dick insisted we butt into the mayor’s dinner – he wanted me to take a picture of them together. (The mayor couldn’t have been more accomodating.) Andy instructed me to email him a copy as soon as possible. He’s gonna love this.
In exchange, I had Andy take a photo of me with the mayor. I’m surprised at how well it turned out. The mayor said he eats in a different restaurant in LA every night. It’s a great way to keep in touch with his constituents.
Kathy Griffin told me she’s “recovering” from her divorce. Now that she’s single and has a 7300 square foot house with a view, she’s quite a catch. She says that pricey house keeps her motivated to work non-stop. I couldn’t help but notice we share a preference for unnaturally bright colored hair.

TWO LESS BELLS TO ANSWER

Stand by for more Kathy Griffin gossip! First we must remind you that we are crazy about Kathy and our affection for her is in no way diluted by her juicy scandals. We’ve always considered her something of a “stand-up gossip” – as opposed to just a standup comic. We relate. Anyway, we just found out what happened to her two “main gays,” Tony and Dennis, who were prominently featured in the first season of “D-List.” We’ve heard the guys wrote jokes for Kathy to use on the red carpet and were inseparable buddies. In fact, we ran into the threesome at the Cher concert at the Hollywood Bowl last year and they were very chummy. But after the first season the guys got tired of not earning money and asked to be paid. They quickly learned that Kathy is the ONLY person paid on that show. And it wasn’t going to change. (As we told you, money is VERY important to Kathy. ) The guys didn’t want to do the second season free and the friendship was abruptly OVER.

Since we revealed that Kathy Griffin was PRETENDING to reconcile with her exhusband Matt Moline on her reality TV show My Life on the D-List , we’ve learned a LOT more! Way more than Kathy is likely to reveal on Larry King! Let’s backtrack. Last September while filming season one, Kathy learned from her bank that SOMEONE had been using her ATM card and draining one of her bank accounts.Money is VERY important to Kathy – friends consider her frugal. An investigation proved it was her own husband Matt. He had been quietly withdrawing $500 – the limit – every day for many months. What was Matt’s problem – was it drugs? Another woman? Gambling? None of the above. Kathy was so upset she sent the D-List cameras home and filed for divorce. “She’s not quite the victim she appears to be” revealed an insider. Apparently when Kathy married Matt she told him “I will never support you – you have to pay half the bills.”
Matt found himself caught up in Kathy’s busy schedule – she hates to travel alone and wanted him with her at all times. He had no time to run his computer business and couldn’t earn enough money to pay his bills. (When they went out to dinner, Kathy expected HIM to pay.) So he started robbing Peter to pay Paul. He took the money from Kathy and paid his bills and spent the rest on her!
The network wanted her married on the show and that’s why Matt returned for season two. It was all ACTING – they pretended everything was okay. Insiders feel the reason Kathy recently revealed Matt’s thievery was to boost her show RATINGS. He is described as “humiliated – a broken man.” Ironically Kathy hopes they can remain friends! It’s a real soap opera and we hope there’s a happy ending for both. Meanwhile, we’re not going to miss an episode of D-List.

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

Kathy Griffin is pulling the wool over our eyes in the nicest possible way. Kathy, a self confessed reality show junkie, introduced some totally UNREAL elements to her show “My Life on the D-List.” Last September Kathy filed for divorce from her “soulmate” of over four years Matthew Moline. The divorce was never finalized and Kathy claimed they were working things out. But in actuality, things DIDN’T work out, and Matthew moved into his own place last year. For this season’s tapings Matt always arrived early in the morning before the cameras, and PRETENDED to be still living in Kathy’s hillside mansion. The marriage is OVER although Kathy and Matt are still good friends. When will she admit her little subterfuge?
