We are always amused by the fact that Keanu Reeves, 48, who can be SO hot., chooses to play DOWN his looks when he’s on his own time. Most actors going to Cannes would get an expensive haircut and pack up the Prada suits. Not Keanu. Here he is partying on a yacht in Cannes and he looks like he hasn’t seen a mirror in a very long time. But, of course, we still love him.
It’s big news when Keanu Reeves, 48, is seen holding hands with a new woman! The reclusive actor was seen leaving The Troubadour in LA with an unknown female companion. Last night’s show featured several Canadian bands including METZ and Keanu happens to be from Canada. Keanu played bass guitar in his own band Dogstar in the 90’s, and like Johnny Depp, he still makes music every chance he gets.

The last time we saw Keanu Reeves, 47, on the New York subway was in December, when somebody secretly filmed him with an iPhone. Keanu offered his seat to a woman carrying a large bag and she accepted without realizing who he was. The snippet of film got Keanu a lot of praise for his good manners. Polite celebrities are always a delight, (Are you listening Lindsay?) Keanu credits his manners to his English mother. The photo above of Keanu reading the newspaper on the subway was lifted from Facebook. 23 years after the first “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” a third film is actually in the works. The reclusive Keanu also has a fantasy action film “47 Ronin” coming out in February.

Back in the 90’s, Amanda de Cadenet was a wealthy exhuberant English girl married to Duran Duran musician John Taylor, who decided she wanted to become an actress. She moved to LA and did a few movies but decided she loved photography more. She photographed lots of actors like Keanu Reeves (he became her boyfriend) Demi Moore, and Drew Barrymore for magazines. She knew everyone and hit all the parties. When her marriage failed, she married another photo subject, The Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi (above.) Demi Moore is producing Amanda’s new Lifetime show “The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet” debuting tonight, and with Amanda’s circle of friends, it’s bound to be interesting.

We don’t think Keanu Reeves is really all that “sad” but we get a huge kick out of the “Sad Keanu“ internet phenomenon. Someone took paparazzi photos of Keanu eating a sandwich alone on a park bench and started superimposing the Keanus into all kinds of different scenes with funny and absurd results. Keanu himself is only mildly aware of the situation and says “it sounds like harmless fun,” which it is. If he ever gets around to googling “Sad Keanu” he will be overwhelmed with amusing photos.

We’ve gotten used to seeing guys dress without regard for the weather – wearing tank tops, shorts, and flip flops, on cool 50 degree winter evenings in Los Angeles. But new Yorkers were somewhat agog when Keanu Reeves was spotted walking around during last week’s blistering heat wave (high humidity in the 90’s) dressed in a sport jacket, jeans and sturdy boots. Not to mention that heavy beard.

Looking his usual “casual” self, Keanu Reeves took a coffee break in NYC and chatted with friends seated on a park bench. Afterward he was careful to throw his cigarette butt and coffee cup into the trashcan. No sign of Charlize Theron today.
Let’s examine that kiss that Keanu Reeves laid on Charlize Theron last night as they were leaving Bouchon restaurant in Beverly Hills. (They got into separate cars.) Is it a romance? Both are single now, so it could go either way, but they HAVE been friends since they filmed “Sweet November” together in 2001. “The Devil’s Advocate” followed that. The fact that they arrived separately and actually kissed in a place where they could be SEEN, indicates a mere friendship. But the fact that Charlize slid her hands UNDER Keanu’s coat when the smack took place, indicates that they are VERY friendly. It could go either way.
You never know who you might run into in a Los Angeles supermarket. A clean-shaven Keanu Reeves is always a pleasant surprise. It’s funny how he runs his own errands – like picking up carry out sushi from Koi – or stocking up at the grocery store. Most actors have assistants do these mundane things, but Keanu has always been a man of the people.
Keanu Reeves picked up some healthy food to go at Real Food Daily on La Cienega and carefully balanced the bag on his motorcycle for the ride home. Why certain people believe he’s gay is difficult to understand. He doesn’t dress, live, or behave like any gay guy we ever knew. Why this rumor persists is puzzling, but he definitely IS one of a kind.
