A blast from the past: Kristen Stewart, who plays Joan Jett in “The Runaways” is pictured here with DJ Rodney Bingenheimer, (“The Mayor of Sunset Strip”) who helped make the all-girl band famous on his radio show, Rodney on the ROQ, back in 1975. In the movie, Rodney is played by an actor named Kier O’Donnell, and for those of you who know Rodney, we hear it’s a great imitation.

Kristen Stewart plays a fifteen year old in “The Yellow Handkerchief” which is being released this month. She was only seventeen when she filmed the movie and that was before “Twilight.” You can see why she was hired to play Bella. It’s something of a road movie with captivating, believable and rather sympathetic characters, who are all looking for love. It turns out to be quite a romantic story and a really satisfying movie. Above, Maria Bello, William Hurt, and Kristen, at the premier.

ROB PATTINSON AND KRISTEN STEWART FORGOT TO RUN IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS

Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart go out of their way to avoid being photographed in the same frame, so this picture of them arriving together at LAX is unusual, to say the least. They both dress DOWN in public, but the movie star sunglasses indoors make people who wouldn’t ordinarily give them a second glance, look again.

BOXOFFICE KING ROB PATTINSON CELEBRATES “NEW MOON” TRIUMPH

Rob Pattinson is still in New York and he went out to dinner with a bunch of guys to celebrate his movie “New Moon” breaking box office records. (Does that mean he’ll be more insanely popular than Leonardo DiCaprio was after “Titanic?”) He also went out to throw the press off the scent of his undercover romance with Kristen Stewart. Now that we KNOW something is going on between them (and the fact that they both REFUSE to talk about it OR deny it only proves we’re right) ) all this subterfuge is unnecessary. But we’ll play along.

TWILIGHT DIRECTOR THINKS ROB AND KRISTEN ARE A COUPLE

While the “New Moon” cast is in Europe doing PR, “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke made some very revealing comments about Rob Pattinson, 23, and Kristen Stewart, now 19, to Time magazine. She said she believes that nothing happened during the first movie. She noticed chemistry between the costars right away and discouraged romantic entanglements. Specifically, after she cast Rob, she warned him, “Don’t even THINK about having a romance with her – she’s under 18 and you’ll be arrested.” Hardwicke thinks that Kristen has since decided to give Rob a chance, so maybe that hand-holding photo was meaningful.

JOAN JETT CAN’T STAY AWAY FROM “THE RUNAWAYS” SET

Setsiders on “The Runaways” are perplexed by Joan Jett’s continuing presence on the set. The movie is based on bandmember Cherie Currie’s book “Neon Angel” and it’s actually about HER experiences, but she’s nowhere to be seen. Joan is always around and she’s “friendly and nice to everyone” but no one can figure out why she’s such a fixture on the set while the other original bandmembers are not. It’s a mystery. ELVIS’S GRANDDAUGHTER RILEY IS CAST IN “THE RUNAWAYS”

Elvis’s granddaughter Danielle Riley Keough, 20, (as she is now known) was modeling for awhile, but she recently got a big break and was cast in “The Runaways” with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. Dakota is playing band member Cherie Curry and Danielle plays her sister Marie. (Remember, Danielle was once stepdaughter to Michael Jackson!) It’ll be interesting to see if Danielle has any acting talent.

The more you look at the 1977 Brad Elterman photo of Joan Jett, the easier it is to see why she cast Kristen Stewart to play herself in “The Runaways.” When the old photo was taken, Joan probably WAS a teenage runaway. She’s pictured on the corner of Hollywood and Highland, which has actually changed a lot more than SHE has. And those are some shoes she’s rockin.’

After auditioning many important faces, producer Joan Jett selected “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart. At first it seemed an odd choice, but since Kristen dyed her hair black and cut it in a shag, we’re starting to think she’ll be great. Hundreds of kids are lined up outside a Vancouver high school where “New Moon” is filming scenes in the cafeteria. Edward and Bella are back together and Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are cracking jokes and hanging out between shots. It WOULD have been nice if Hollywood had been more financially accommodating so the movie could have been made HERE.

ADVENTURELAND WILL SURPRISE YOU

Just because “Adventureland” is about a group of recent college graduates floundering in the outside world, doesn’t mean it’s aimed simply at that age group. It’s a post-teen movie that’s just as appealing for adults – maybe even more so. We remember what it was like in 1987 – before cell phones and computers. Jesse Eisenberg (“The Squid and the Whale”) plays a smart but awkward nerd, forced to take a summer job at the local amusement park, and Kristen Stewart (“Twilight”) plays the object of his affection. They’re both terrific and his exasperating and fabulous summer is an original and authentic experience.

Looking dazed and confused, “Twilight” heartthrob Robert Pattinson arrived at the Tokyo airport and was was mobbed by hundreds of wailing fans. And they haven’t even seen his movie yet! Robert is in town for the gala premier and Kristen Stewart is expected also. Hugh Jackman happened to be on the same flight and even after hosting the Oscars, he was barely acknowledged compared to the “Twilight” star.

Twilight star Kristen Stewart caused chaos wherever she went at Sundance. At one point she stopped her car and jumped out to sign autographs for teenage fans who had been calling out to her. They were in SHOCK and almost tearful that she made that effort. Kristen seems to endure all the questions about her sexy costar Robert Pattinson (“What’s it like to kiss him?”) with good humor.
