Everything good about this year’s Grammy telecast was directly due to female participation and domination. NO ONE could top Pink’s amazing acrobatic performance in the sky. She can not only sing (her voice was rich and powerful) but she can do it spinning upside down thirty feet up in the air, AND soaking wet! She never missed a note and her athletic moves were immaculate. She made every guy on the show look drab and boring. As always, Beyonce was lively and letter perfect – we love that she never says no and performs EVERYWHERE. Lady Gaga’s entrance in her “rings of Saturn’ outer space frock pumped life into the red carpet and kept viewers tuned in. These girls gave the formerly male dominated Grammys the best ratings they’ve gotten in YEARS.

We thought Lady Gaga cleaned up on New Year’s Eve, pulling in $300,000 for her Fontainebleau show in Miami, but that’s not the case. Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich paid 1.7 million dollars for entertainment at HIS New Year’s bash in St Barts – Beyonce, Gwen Stefani, and Prince, each raked in over a half million dollars to perform for 250 guests at Abramovich’s 90 million dollar St Barts estate. The whole party cost FIVE million dollars. According to the NY Post, this is the same guy who ran up a tab of over $47,000 for ten people for a meal at a New York restaurant.

LADY GAGA PUT ON A SHOW FOR FREE

On New Year’s Eve day, Lady Gaga was seen on the balcony of her penthouse at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami and she’s naked – just holding a robe out in front of her. She’s with an unidentified man who must be a VERY close friend. It’s the afternoon before her big poolside show and she still has a LOT of preparation to do – hair, makeup, and costumes. Luckily she has plenty of help to get her ready. Hers is predicted to be hottest NYE ticket of all.

LADY GAGA STOLE HER ACT FROM JOEY ARIAS

Los Angeles is soooo lucky to have “Arias with a Twist” featured at the Redcat theater in Gehry’s glorious Disney Hall until mid-December. We’ve known Joey since the early 70’s when he was an eager high school kid in a band, working in our clothing store, The Garment District, on Sunset Strip. He was always bursting with creativity and when he moved to New York he joined up with legendary operatic performance artist Klaus Nomi and became a New Wave megastar in New York nightlife. Joey channels not only Billie Holiday, but Joan Crawford and Marlene Dietrich. Joey’s incredibly vixenish costumes are designed by his pal Thierry Mugler and executed by Project Runway’s Chris March. The cabaret show is affordable and deliciously entertaining. Lady Gaga’s AMA performance reminded us a LOT of Joey – we think she stole his act!

“Take THAT Posh Spice!” is what Lady Gaga seems to be saying with this outlandishly shoulderpadded black suit. Victoria Beckham was first to rock the exaggerated pagoda shoulder look, but now Gaga has outdone her by a mile. HER shoulders are so big they look like the back of an easy chair. Lady Gaga loves the outfit so much she’s already worn it TWICE – while signing CD’s for fans at Best Buy and on the Jay Leno show. We love her sense of humor.

MOCA HOPES YOU’LL FIT INTO LADY GAGA’S SHOES

The Prada designed size 4 bouffant dress, hand painted and festooned with chandelier glass, and Frank Gehry designed headdress that Lady Gaga wore when she performed at the MOCA 30th Anniversary Gala are being auctioned off to raise money for the museum. Included with the dress are Gaga’s matching size 6 and ½ platform shoes with chandelier glass dripping from the heels. (Tiny feet!) Yes, the headpiece reminds us of Disney Hall. We saw these treasures up close and they ARE exceptional.The costume is valued at $30,000, but someone might get a good deal. The Gehry hat is also valued at $30,000, and it’s all for a worthwhile cause – we love our museum.

LADY GAGA DOESN’T NEED KANYE WEST

Kanye West’s big mouth is NOT increasing his popularity. He’s currently featured with Lady GaGa on her Fame Kills tour and it started out as a 50-50 deal, but his name has been taken off ads and marketing although he IS still performing. Kanye HAS been talking about “taking a vacation” so maybe he won’t do the entire tour – especially since GaGa has proved she can hold her own. Insiders believe that his name was removed because he turns too many people OFF.

Hell-bent on success, Lady Gaga is EVERYWHERE promoting her music. She left Berlin in the morning and spent five hours in London at a CD signing before she flew off to France that evening. Eventually she’ll end up at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 13, where she’s performing and has 9 nominations. Beyonce, incidentally, is also performing and ALSO has 9 nominations. This will be a big competition. Above, Lady Gaga resembles an old time movie star avoiding the press after a scandal.

LADY GAGA IS A SIGHT TO BEHOLD AT LAX

We’ve seen some surprising airport get-ups- celebrities often try to keep their identities under wraps. That’s definitely not Lady Gaga’s motivation. She startled and delighted other passengers at LAX when she showed up wearing a scarf and a latex bra and matching tight skirt. Not surprising, since Lady Gaga says fashion is “everything” to her, and she credits Grace Jones as an inspiration. We wonder how comfortable latex is during a long flight.
