Leonardo DiCaprio has left that yacht in the South of France and reported for work on the set of his new film “Inception” where he was seen snuggling up to Marion Cotillard. The plot of this movie is something of a mystery- it’s described as “A sci-fi thriller set within the architecture of the mind.” Writer/director Christopher Nolan is also responsible for the movie “Memento – which was also a mind-bending experience. Giant, building size mirrors were reportedly seen on the set. We’re intrigued.

London’s Daily Mail featured this photo of celebrities having fun in Hawaii. There was an abundance of actors vacationing at the same time and they got together and rented a boat for a day. Sacha Baron Cohen is up front in the black shirt and white shorts, and you can see who the others are. Apparently Leo delighted in launching himself off the back of the boat and Tobey Maguire had a long conversation with Sacha.

LEONARDO DICAPRIO: WHY WE LOVE HIM

Last week Leonardo DiCaprio spent long hours at a press junket at the Beverly Wilshire hotel promoting his environmental documentary “The 11th Hour.” Dozens of journalists lined the hallway outside the room where Leo sat for a five minute interview for each outlet. Everything was timed to the split second, but as usual they were behind schedule and the press people were tired from waiting. Suddenly the hotel manager appeared and told Leo’s publicist that a hotel guest who happened to be a Saudi Arabian princess, wanted to meet Leo and get a photograph. The twentywomething girl was quite pretty. The press corps groaned, assuming Leo would take a break. But he didn’t. Leo politely declined – explaining he didn’t want to further inconvenience the people waiting. The princess was not used to hearing the word no, and she tried TWICE more to get to Leo before the day was over. No luck.

PATRICK DEMPSEY DOUBLED HIS EFFORTS

Grey’s Anatomy doc Patrick Dempsey is working out like a fiend at Easton gym on Beverly Blvd. He’s been seen sweating with his trainer doing cardio and serious weights for two or three hours EVERY afternoon. This is the same no frills old-time gym that Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire work out at and nobody pays any attention. Observers say Dr McDreamy has doubled his workouts and we figure that means he’s getting ready for some kind of skin revealing scene on the show. A hot love scene with Meredith, perhaps?

LEONARDO DICAPRIO: NO ADMISSION

Last week Leonardo DiCaprio was in his Prius buzzing down Hollywood Boulevard late at night when he got pulled over for speeding. (Who knew a hybrid car could go that fast!) Unsympathetic cops gave him a ticket and Leo realized he’d pulled into an open parking space and decided to leave his car there and avoid the valet parking jam at the after hours club he was headed to. He got out and walked the several blocks to the club and noted with satisfaction that there was a LONG line of cars for valet parking. But when he got to the rope he was told fire marshalls had closed the place down – it was way over capacity and NO ONE could get in. Of course photogs and fans and autograph hounds noticed Leo and they followed him RELENTLESSLY on his long walk back to his car on Hollywood Blvd. Everybody has an off night once in awhile.

Seems like yesterday that we told you about Leonardo DiCaprio being particularly good to his mother and now he’s up to more of the same shenanigans. Leo took his young model girlfriend Bar Rafaeli to Prada in Beverly Hills and he generously encouraged her to pick out several very expensive handbags, along with accessories and a few dresses. But he didn’t forget mom – without even looking at the pricetags, he purchased JUST AS MANY extravagant bags and articles of clothing for his mother as he did for his pretty girlfriend.

Leonardo DiCaprio just keeps getting better and better. We love that he really cares about his family and can’t do enough for them. Now he’s planning to bring several generations together in a Malibu. According to Australian reporter Nelson Aspen, Leo’s looking to buy three houses side by side in Malibu and gate them off as a large compound. Leo will occupy one house, his mother will live in one house, and Leo ’s grandmother will live in the third house. His grandmother lives in Germany and he often visited her there. Now he wants to bring her to the warm climate in Malibu where she’ll be near the family. We predict all the houses will be solar powered.

We hear that Ed Begley, Jr. spent Monday trying to convince car loving Jay Leno to get rid of his gas guzzlers and purchase a hybrid. That must have been a tough sell!
Only Jay knows how many vehicles he’s collected, but while Living With Ed (showtimes) was filming in Burbank environmentalist Ed was doing what he could… Ed’ll be happier when hybrid owner Leonardo DiCaprio appears on the show soon… More celebs lined up for Ed; publicist and friend, Tommy Garrett, Hilary Swank are already scheduled…

Jesse Metcalfe, clad in nothing but “a little orange towel and a smile,” at 24 hour Fitness in Hollywood……. Chris Kattan with a tall pretty girl, perusing the screw aisle in Hollywood’s Home Depot (who knew he was handy around the house)… Romance novel coverboy Fabio can be seen almost every day around 4:30 at Gold’s Gym in Hollywood. “He looks like a giant man-woman with that long hair” offered another gym rat…. Albertsons spokesperson Patricia Heaton (”Everybody Loves Raymond”) pushing a loaded shopping cart around Ralph’s on 3rd street. Looks like Albertsons doesn’t give her freebies…… Leonardo DiCaprio stocking up on an assortment of healthy juices at Whole Foods in West Hollywood. It took both him and his buddy to carry all the bottles out……. Jake Gyllenhaal took one look at the long line for tables at Urth Cafe (Entourage made the place even MORE popular) – he got his lunch to go and sat in his Mercedes and ate it…….
