SHUTTER ISLAND: COINCIDENTALLY OR NOT, “TWILIGHT ZONE” IS LEONARDO DICAPRIO’S FAVORITE TV SERIES

We’re eager to hear what readers thought of “Shutter Island,” which opened this weekend, because it’s not the usual Scorsese fare. First of all, we were immediately blown away by the extraordinary cinematography. Each scene was almost surreal in clarity and beauty – we wonder if the NON 3D version of “Avatar” looked this good. The 3D movie didn’t. We happen to be huge fans of “Twilight Zone” (along with Leonardo DiCaprio) and when we say this film is like a two hour return to the classic TV series, we mean it as a compliment. It’s a real psychological thriller and it’s hard to figure out what’s real and what’s not. Fun and entertaining.

LEONARDO DICAPRIO IS HOOKED ON JERSEY SHORE

The Jersey Shore kids are STILL talking about one night they spent at a Hollywood club because a major movie star proved to be one of their biggest fans. One night Leonardo DiCaprio and Bar Rafaeli were at Voyeur and Leo was looking bored as usual, with sunglasses and his cap pulled down. The Jersey Shore cast walked in and Leo came to life. He ran up and hugged the startled Snooki, exclaiming “You guys are the coolest!” He insisted on having his photo taken with each of them (You KNOW how he usually hates photos) and invited them to sit at HIS table. “He treated them like ROYALTY,” an observer told us. “He didn’t want Lindsay Lohan to sit at his table, but he loved having the Jersey cast.“ He introduced the Jersey guys to Victoria’s Secret models and was having so much fun he wouldn’t let them leave until 3:30 AM.

Leonardo DiCaprio has left that yacht in the South of France and reported for work on the set of his new film “Inception” where he was seen snuggling up to Marion Cotillard. The plot of this movie is something of a mystery- it’s described as “A sci-fi thriller set within the architecture of the mind.” Writer/director Christopher Nolan is also responsible for the movie “Memento – which was also a mind-bending experience. Giant, building size mirrors were reportedly seen on the set. We’re intrigued.

Single and circulating, Leonardo DiCaprio Is all over London on his bicycle. He’s currently filming “Inception “ there with Michael Caine. After a day of riding in Notting Hill, Leo and friends stopped to sample the local cuisine. He just HATES to be noticed.

Movie stars can fulfill their whims much easier than the rest of us can. Leonardo DiCaprio and a buddy took two brand new Vespas for a ride around Manhattan and ended up having lunch at the Thompson Hotel on the Lower East Side. After they ate, the two guys apparently more in the mood for a nap than joyriding – they simply left their scooters and jumped into a cab! Presumably gophers of some kind retrieved the Vespas later.

London’s Daily Mail featured this photo of celebrities having fun in Hawaii. There was an abundance of actors vacationing at the same time and they got together and rented a boat for a day. Sacha Baron Cohen is up front in the black shirt and white shorts, and you can see who the others are. Apparently Leo delighted in launching himself off the back of the boat and Tobey Maguire had a long conversation with Sacha.

Last week Leonardo DiCaprio spent long hours at a press junket at the Beverly Wilshire hotel promoting his environmental documentary “The 11th Hour.” Dozens of journalists lined the hallway outside the room where Leo sat for a five minute interview for each outlet. Everything was timed to the split second, but as usual they were behind schedule and the press people were tired from waiting. Suddenly the hotel manager appeared and told Leo’s publicist that a hotel guest who happened to be a Saudi Arabian princess, wanted to meet Leo and get a photograph. The twentywomething girl was quite pretty. The press corps groaned, assuming Leo would take a break. But he didn’t. Leo politely declined – explaining he didn’t want to further inconvenience the people waiting. The princess was not used to hearing the word no, and she tried TWICE more to get to Leo before the day was over. No luck.

PATRICK DEMPSEY DOUBLED HIS EFFORTS

Grey’s Anatomy doc Patrick Dempsey is working out like a fiend at Easton gym on Beverly Blvd. He’s been seen sweating with his trainer doing cardio and serious weights for two or three hours EVERY afternoon. This is the same no frills old-time gym that Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire work out at and nobody pays any attention. Observers say Dr McDreamy has doubled his workouts and we figure that means he’s getting ready for some kind of skin revealing scene on the show. A hot love scene with Meredith, perhaps?

LEONARDO DICAPRIO: NO ADMISSION

Last week Leonardo DiCaprio was in his Prius buzzing down Hollywood Boulevard late at night when he got pulled over for speeding. (Who knew a hybrid car could go that fast!) Unsympathetic cops gave him a ticket and Leo realized he’d pulled into an open parking space and decided to leave his car there and avoid the valet parking jam at the after hours club he was headed to. He got out and walked the several blocks to the club and noted with satisfaction that there was a LONG line of cars for valet parking. But when he got to the rope he was told fire marshalls had closed the place down – it was way over capacity and NO ONE could get in. Of course photogs and fans and autograph hounds noticed Leo and they followed him RELENTLESSLY on his long walk back to his car on Hollywood Blvd. Everybody has an off night once in awhile.
