BRITNEY SPEARS CAN’T WAIT TO GET TO MACY’S SALE

She’s never been much of a Barneys or Maxfield shopper, so it makes sense that Britney Spears would get excited over the Super Sunday sale at Macy’s. (50 to 75% off menswear etc!) She and her boyfriend David Lucado (described as an “ordinary guy”) were photographed dashing across the mall parking lot and she’s going to need that bodyguard because the store will be packed. Brit’s a down to earth girl no matter how many millions she rakes in performing in Las Vegas.

MADONNA WANTS HER MEN TO SMELL LIKE WHISKEY

Now that Madonna has her Truth or Dare fragrance selling at Macy’s, she’s starting to think bigger. Besides another scent for women, she’s considering developing a men’s cologne, according to WWD. Madonna says her daughter Lourdes likes to wear men’s cologne and it was HER idea. Madonna is toying with the idea of a whiskey scented men’s fragrance. But is that something that would attract women? We think women would appreciate a men’s cologne with a clean, soapy smell, not whiskey or cigarettes. Just a suggestion.

Update: Someone should bring it to Madonna’s attention that smelling “like whiskey” might not be a good idea for men stopped by a traffic cop or at a job interview…

MADONNA TRUMPS THE KARDASHIANS IN RETAIL SALES

Desperate retailers have been snapping up young celebrities to develop exclusive apparel lines for their chain stores and some have been faring far better than others. Right now the Kardashians and Selena Gomez are at the bottom of the heap because their collections are featured in Sears and Kmart stores which are going out of business left and right. Demi Lovato and Gwen Stefani are doing well with their lines at Target, but the biggest winner of all: Madonna and her daughter Lourdes’s Material Girl collection at Macy’s. Their clothing line has had an excellent year and Macy’s stock is up 27.2%.

MACY’S PREFERS KELLY OSBOURNE’S LOOK TO TAYLOR MOMSEN’S

Thanks to Madonna, Kelly Osbourne looks quite fetching in her new Macy’s ads for the Material Girl collection, although her look is not particularly provocative. Apparently the store shied away from Taylor Momsen’s hard core raccoon eyes persona and wanted a softer more teen (and MOM) friendly feeling. Kelly looks a lot sweeter than usual. Now it’s clear why Kelly replaced Taylor.

JESSICA SIMPSON’S WEDDING REGISTRY WILL BE PUBLIC DOMAIN

It seems that Jessica Simpson just can’t help making money, no matter what she does. Her fans seem to purchase everything she introduces from clothing to shoes and handbags and jewelry. Now that she’s getting married she’s publicly setting up her wedding registry with Macy’s so that everyone can see the list of items she covets. That way, her followers can buy the SAME toasters, sheets, cookware, appliances, dishes, etc from the store that SHE wants for her own home. So if you want to live like Jessica, watch for “Jessica’s Registry” at Macy’s.

MACY’S SHOPPERS LOVE LOURDES AND MADONNA’S MATERIAL GIRL FASHIONS

Madonna and Lourdes’ Material Girl clothing collection debuted at Macy’s in New York and it’s a hit. Girls and women mobbed the store at opening time and the Material Girl department was jampacked. Free cupcakes with sprinkles were served and Madonna music played nonstop, but both designers are apparently still in Europe. Official Material Girl spokes model Taylor Momsen gave a free concert in the store the same evening. Mothers were thrilled with the $12 to $40 price tags and daughters stocked up. It’s a large and continuously changing collection – where will Lourdes and Madonna find the time?

MACY’S IS PUTTING BIG BUCKS BEHIND LOURDES LEON

Madonna’s almost 14 year old daughter Lourdes is well on her way to becoming a fashion icon for her age group. The editor of Teen Vogue says their readers are OBSESSED with Lourdes’ style – “she’s gorgeous, she’s cool, and she has her mother’s rebellious spirit.” Lola travels a lot and represents multicultural style – she is the creative force behind Macy’s new MG collection (Material Girl.) Macy’s is devoting 4000 sq ft of their NY flagship store to her collection which retails from $12 to $40. The store is trying something they’ve never done in their 152 year history- they will be stocking new Material Girl pieces on a daily basis to compete with fast fashion retailers like H&M and Forever 21. THAT’S how much they believe in Lourdes! It premiers August 3.
