WHAT MICK JAGGER WANTED FROM ANDY WARHOL – AND WHAT HE GOT
Filed Under: Andy Warhol > Mick Jagger > The Rolling Stones

Our esteemed colleague James St James at The WOW Report published this utterly fascinating letter that Mick Jagger wrote to Andy Warhol in 1969, asking him to design an album cover. It’s delightfully revealing because Mick Jagger was obviously so much better educated that he wanted us to know in those days. His rep back then was that of a care-free, drugged up, frivolous rockstar, but his writing is decidedly smart and upper class. Now we know he was always the brains behind The Rolling Stones. The result of this correspondence was probably the most famous album cover of all time.

Some girls have all the luck. Mick Jagger’s ex Jerry Hall showed up at the Vivienne Westwood fashion show in London with her two model sized daughters Georgia, 16, (in plaid) and Elizabeth, 24. Georgia just signed with the Elite model agency alongside her mother and sister. She also recently persuaded her mom Jerry to stop wearing miniskirts.

MICK JAGGER HAS BIG BUCKS INVESTED IN MEG RYAN

Meg Ryan took her teenage son Jack shopping at Fred Segal in Santa Monica for back to school stuff. He’s getting very tall very fast and probably needs new clothes frequently. Meg stars in “The Women” which will be released September 12 – hopefully it will attract the enthusiastic female audience that made “Sex & the City” such a hit. We’re still amused by the fact that Mick Jagger produced this film.

THE ROLLING STONES: TIME IS ON THEIR SIDE
Filed Under: Martin Scorsese > Mick Jagger > Shine a Light > The Rolling Stones

A significant moment in “Shine a Light,” Martin Scorsese’s documentary on The Rolling Stones, was a clip from a 1970’s press interview with Mick Jagger. Mick was asked if he could imagine being on stage at 60 and he replied “Yeah….easily.” Little did he know how inspiring that attitude would turn out to be. Stones fans who saw the documentary walked away feeling more than just entertained. Mick Jagger is an inspiration. He’s 65 and has the enthusiasm of a young man. He’s slim, trim, and well dressed – and can sing almost anybody under the table. He’s the heart – and the BRAINS – behind the band. (He does all the business side of the job.) In fact the whole band looks great – they’re in shape and coincidentally they all have hair, and make no effort to disguise their wrinkles. The message is: If THEY can wear velvet pants and work and have fun and be hip and cool, ANYONE can do it.

ELIZABETH JAGGER AND THEODORA RICHARDS: ROCKIN' IN THE WAVES
Filed Under: Child Stars > Mick Jagger

Huntington Beach was the place to meet a rockstar’s daughter last week, if you happen to be in the market for one. Elizabeth Jagger, 21 the daughter of Mick and Jerry Hall, was frolicking in the coolish surf with Theodora Richards, 20, the spawn of Keith Richards and Patti Hanson. (Is that underwear they’re wearing?) Their dads’ band The Rolling Stones had a sold out performance at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles that same week. These girls are hot commodities – not only do they come from rock royalty, but they’re successsful models on their own. They appear to be genetically blessed.

Clowning
Filed Under: Mick Jagger > What do you think of that
2000: Mick Jagger was at the seedy strip bar Jumbo’s Clown Room on Hollywood Boulevard (still there!) and other patrons were surprised to see him. Someone asked the Rolling Stone “What’re you doing here?” “Just looking” Mick leered.
“Why Jumbo’s?”
“Maybe I’ll find the next Courtney Love” he snickered. (In case you forgot, Courtney got her start dancing there and she often got booed off the stage.)
