HARRY STYLES VEERS OFF IN ANOTHER DIRECTION – ACTING!

Proving there IS life beyond One Direction, Harry Styles, 22, is making his acting debut in a highly anticipated big budget historical drama-thriller “Dunkirk,” starring everybody’s favorite actor, Tom Hardy. Filming in France, the UK, and Los Angeles has been TOP SECRET and done under code names. Paparazzi managed to sneak a few shots in the last days of shooting and caught Harry looking adorable with his GI haircut and WWII military uniform. You won’t be seeing this until next summer.

Once upon a time, even celebrities served in the armed forces! Probably the most celebrated (besides Clark Gable and Jimmy Stewart) was Elvis Presley. When he got his military haircut it made the front pages! However, Memorial Day is not to be taken lightly – we do appreciate every soldier who helped this country remain free. It’s a good day to watch American Sniper again

Jared Leto Military Real Estate

JARED LETO JUST BOUGHT HIS OWN MILITARY COMPOUND

Jared Leto just paid 5 million dollars for what used to be a military compound in the Hollywood Hills! Included are 50,000 sq ft of living space with 8 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. It was built in Laurel Canyon in the early 1940’s and later used as a military film studio. Compared to neighboring properties the compound looks grey and stark and free of frills or rolling lawns. But plenty of parking. Maybe Jared will turn it into a recording studio for his band – or maybe something completely unexpected. He still has a house in the hills that he’s lived in since 2006.

Jimi Hendrix Military Thanks for the Memories

We immediately fell in love with this photo and didn’t even realize at first that it happens to be Jimi Hendrix in 1961! According to Stephen Saban at The WOW Report, Jimi, 19, was caught “riding in stolen cars” and was given a choice between spending two years in prison or joining the army. He enlisted, and was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. Although he was cute in the uniform, he didn’t make a great soldier and was happy when he was honorably discharged a year later due to “unsuitability.”

Bea Arthur Golden Girls Marine Military

LONG BEFORE “THE GOLDEN GIRLS,” BEA ARTHUR WAS A MARINE

This scoop from The Smoking Gun nearly slipped past us in the holiday scramble and we knew you’d love it. The intrepid site dug up the late Bea Arthur’s personnel records from when she was a marine. Yes, a MARINE! In 1943, Bea- then known as Bernice Frankel, heard that enlistments for women in the Marines were open so she decided to join. She named her “hobbies” as music and dramatics. Her personality appraisal sheets listed her as “argumentative” and “over aggressive” but she performed well as a typist and truck driver in the service. By the time she was discharged in 1945, she had advanced to staff sergeant. Her only misconduct report was due to her contracting a venereal disease that left her incapacitated for duty five weeks in late 1944. Maybe THAT’S why the star of “Maude” and “Golden Girls” didn’t speak about her time in the marines, in fact she denied those years in the military. If it weren’t for the Freedom of Information Act we never would have known!
