CALVIN KLEIN’S QUESTIONABLE CHOICES COME BACK TO HAUNT HIM

Our brilliant colleague, Gawker contributor Michael Musto, posted a hilarious -and revealing- interview with John Luciano, who dated Calvin Klein’s boyfriend Nick Gruber after they split up. It’s titled “Calvin Klein’s Boyfriend is Straight and the Worst Lover I Ever Had!” Click HERE to read the whole thing. What Calvin and Nick don’t know is that Luciano has created a mini-series about his brief romance with Nick for YouTube. When they were a couple, Gruber and Luciano worked on a proposed reality series and now John is editing The Nick Gruber Project for YouTube, debuting next week. Calvin Klein’s boy toy Nick Gruber just got into a fistfight at a club in The Hamptons that was described in the NY Post as a “blood bath.” He ran away after the fight and police searched the area for him. Calvin’s posh friends are horrified by Nick’s rough behavior and don’t want him around, so Calvin will have to CHOOSE SIDES. Klein’s society friends have made it known that if they invite him to parties they don’t want Nick as his plus 1. “He’s trouble.” Calvin seems totally besotted with his hooligan boyfriend, but the time has come when he must decide to keep Nick OR his fancy friends.

While watching the delicious HBO movie “Behind the Candelabra” we were struck by the similarities between Liberace’s relationship with Scott Thorson, and Calvin Klein’s relationship with Nick Gruber. It’s the SAME story without the mink and rhinestones! Not long ago, Nick was shopping around a book about their time together and we managed to learn many of the details. Both Nick and Scott grew up in foster homes and were young and naïve when they met their celebrity boyfriends-to-be. Both Liberace and Calvin showered gifts upon their lovers- jewelry, designer clothing, and cars. (Which they eventually took BACK.) Liberace and Calvin both talked about “adopting” their boyfriends and they both had large and sometimes unusual, sex appetites. Both urged their lovers to take diet pills and had plastic surgery with them. Both young men eventually felt “trapped” like birds in a gilded cage, and turned to drugs. Drug use got both boyfriends kicked out and left stranded. Nick, who also claims to be bisexual, ALMOST followed in Scott’s footsteps and published his book, but last we heard he and Calvin were back together and on vacation.

Page Six Magazine featured an interview with Calvin Klein’s exboyfriend Nick Gruber, with whom our readers are already familiar. Gruber is shopping around a book about their relationship called “Obsession: My Life with Calvin Klein.” Nick, 48 years younger than Klein, says he was “the first man Calvin fell in love with.” (Hmmm…) He went on to say modestly “There’s something about me that attracts everyone.” The big romance lasted a year and a half and ended in April. Calvin had taught Nick all kinds of things- including how to roll up his sleeves like a man. (Roll the cuffs up twice and push the sleeve above the elbow. See Calvin in photo above.) Nick insists he wasn’t with the multimillionaire Klein for the money, but Calvin gave him a $250,000 Bentley and took it back after they broke up over Nick’s drug use. Nick also insists he is straight and prefers dating women although he is now seeing John Luciano, a well off relative of mobster Lucky Luciano. If he really prefers women, why does he only date wealthy men? We’ll have to read the book. Of course, if Calvin gives the Bentley back, we have a feeling the book won’t happen…
