NICOLE RICHIE’S LIFE IS NOT SO SIMPLE ANY MORE

It’s NO coincidence that Nicole Richie and Joel Madden’s family made their red carpet debut at Nic’s movie premiere of Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead). It so happens, they’re all gearing up to star in a reality show. Nicole went from an unknown nepo baby to a household name thanks to one of TV’s first reality shows, The Simple Life. (above) Now she just might be returning to her showbiz roots with a possible new show based on her family’s life. My source says THAT’S the main reason Nicole and Joel decided to include their kids Harlow and Sparrow at the movie premier  – previously they kept their kids OUT of the spotlight.

PARIS HILTON AND NICOLE RICHIE ARE READY FOR A COMEBACK TOO

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been 20 years since Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie became overnight sensations in their reality show, The Simple Life. Although the former best friends went through a long stretch of not speaking, age, marriage and motherhood has matured them and they’re close again. SO close in fact, that they’re shopping around a sitcom where they’ll play versions of themselves. The idea is they’ll portray child stars who move in together when they both become single moms. A script is written and they’re hoping to get a pilot greenlit.

THE MADDEN BROTHERS ARE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT

In case you haven’t noticed, identical twins Joel and Benji Madden’s wives are two of the happiest women in Hollywood! And both Nicole Richie and Cameron Diaz are extremely attractive and wealthier than their husbands! The explanation is simple: these ordinary looking guys know how to behave and how to treat women. Yes they’re musicians, but neither of the brothers has ever used alcohol or drugs! They may not LOOK particularly refined, but they have exceptional manners and bend over backwards to treat their women well and raise their children right. Their relationships have always lasted a long time and their marriages probably will too! These twins should write a book.

THERE’S SOMETHING WRONG WITH NICOLE RICHIE AND MARCIA CROSS

Celebrity revelations can come from unexpected places. A young woman named Jennifer Bruhl worked as a paparazzi in Hollywood for three “insane” years before she retired and wrote a book called “Shooting Stars” which was excerpted in the NY Post. Among her disclosures were a story about Seal’s nasty temper (no surprise to us or to Heidi Klum) and the fact that female paparazzi are dealt with more harshly by female celebrities. Jennifer noted that when female celebrities are confronted by a pack of photographers, they single out and berate the girls. Hilary Duff was known to verbally attack the women, but by far the worst were Marcia Cross and Nicole Ritchie. Their insults to the female paparazzi were evil and vulgar. What’s their problem?

AMERICAN TOURISTS NICOLE RICHIE AND FAMILY ARE VACATIONING IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE

Looking like a typical American family on vacation in Europe, Nicole Richie and her musician husband Joel Madden and their kids Harlow and Sparrow took in the local sights. They did all the touristy stuff – sailed on a yacht, had a carousel ride, ate some ice cream, shopped, and took plenty of photos of each other.

DESIGN STAR: MEDIOCRITY IS THE PARAGON

We’ve been bombarded with publicity for “Fashion Star” that debuted last night, and being big fans of “Project Runway,” we made a point to see it. It’s much glitzier than “Runway” – the set is extravagant and features a runway for the numerous mini-fashion shows. Host Elle Macpherson is a bit more likeable than Heidi Klum, and the judges, Nicole Richie, John Varvatos, (yes, they have men’s wear too!) and Jessica Simpson, are observant and talkative. The gimmick of having buyers from H&M, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Macy’s, purchasing the designs they like for their stores is innovative. But there’s one big fat problem: the fashions are beyond boring! The first group of designers presented creations we’ve already seen and walked past in stores for YEARS. “Runway” designers are encouraged to be innovative, “Fashion Star” competitors are urged to please the masses. It’s difficult to imagine any of these designers becoming successful with such UNMEMORABLE clothes. Perhaps having to please chain store buyers stifles creativity- it might be better to have cool boutiques doing the buying.

Contrary to early speculation, Nicole Richie and Jessica Simpson have been getting along famously on the set of their new show “Fashion Star.” The interesting angle on this show is the fact that the best designs created by contestants on a particular episode will be available in either H&M, Macy’s or Saks, the NEXT DAY after the show airs. This can be done because the show is filmed well in advance – in fact, it just wrapped. Nicole was friendly with Ashlee Simpson before the series started but she didn’t know Jessica very well. They enjoyed working together and Nicole is giving Jessica tips on how to lose weight – she has struggled with the same problem.

Nicole Richie was juggling the invitation list to her wedding until the last minute because she wanted to sell the photo rights for top dollar. Big celebrities bring more money. Nicole’s people were pitting the weeklies against each other to get the best offer. (Keep in mind she took a paparazzi to court recently to keep him away from her family.) When Kim Kardashian and Christina Aguilera both couldn’t attend, the photo price went DOWN, but Nicole still didn’t weaken and invite her frenemy Paris Hilton. Apparently Paris wouldn’t have upped the value of wedding photos. Instead Nicole arranged to have an elephant at the event.

Nicole Richie always said that if and when she got married to Joel Madden she would do it at her adopted father Lionel Richie’s Beverly Hills house. In fact, she still spends a lot of her spare time at daddy’s place. This photo reveals that is would, indeed, be difficult to find a more beautiful place to take one’s vows. We’re particularly amused that Nicole chose not to invite her sometime friend Paris Hilton to the wedding this weekend.

HOW DOES LINDSAY LOHAN FEEL ABOUT CHRISTINA AGUILERA’S FRIENDSHIP WITH SAMANTHA RONSON?

We’re surprised that Lindsay Lohan hasn’t busted out of Betty Ford since all those stories about Samantha Ronson and Christina Aguilera started circulating. Lindsay must be outraged to learn that the object of her affection has taken to partying with Christina. Christina insists they are merely friends and not lovers but we wonder who was the first person she called after she got home from the emergency room. (Shortly before she filed for divorce, Christina’s husband Jordan rushed her to the hospital to have her injured mouth stitched up. It sounds like somebody got punched.) Nicole Richie knows the real story – she was in Cabo with Christina and Sam. All these developments must be driving Lindsay MAD while she’s locked up.
