Brittany Murphy’s widower Simon Monjack SHAVED for the Oscars. He was invited to the awards show because his wife was mentioned in the memorial montage. However, he was reportedly NOT happy because he wasn’t invited to Oscar parties. Above, he is pictured with his companion for the evening.

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are the answer to Oscar’s prayers. For the first time in YEARS, the hosts were better than the glamorous participants. The two pros played off each other expertly and there were no awkward silences or embarrassing moments (except for Neil Patrick Harris.) Two hosts are definitely better than one and these two were so entertaining that we kept wishing they were onstage MORE. Again, Alec has redeemed himself.

Vera Farmiga’s Oscar gown was about as good as it gets. She RULED the red carpet. It was fun to look at. The color was flattering, she looked comfortable wearing it, and it looked just as good sitting down as it did standing up.

We were SO looking forward to seeing Sacha Baron Cohen pull some sort of stunt and liven up the Oscars, but as you know, he was cut loose at the last minute because producers fear that Avatar director James Cameron has no sense of humor. Cohen had planned a skit with Ben Stiller where Sacha would be dressed up as a blue female Na’vi and Ben would “translate” her speech. The translation would have become more and more heated and finally the Na’vi would reveal that she was pregnant with Cameron’s child. This was supposed to lead to a hilarious Jerry Springer style surprise confrontation with Cameron. Producers were afraid that Cameron, instead of laughing, might actually walk OUT, since he is renowned for having highly publicized romances with his leading ladies. It might have been the funniest moment of the show…..

Oscar nominee Anna Kendrick (“Up in the Air”) is not above buying furniture at Ikea in Burbank- she brought along a hooded mystery man to help her stuff it into her car. As you can see, SHE is in charge. We bet he’ll be stuck helping her put the furniture together also. Maybe she’ll reward this new guy by taking him to the Academy Awards. She has her pal Adam Lambert to fall back on if this doesn’t work out.

Miley Cyrus took a lot of flak for her wedding cake inspired Oscar dress. She landed on more than a few “Worst Dressed” lists. Her boyfriend Justin Gaston is too polite to say “I told you so,” but he tried his best to talk her OUT of wearing that dress before the award show. He advised her to wear something else, but Miley was too stubborn to listen. Next time she might.

Looking dazed and confused, “Twilight” heartthrob Robert Pattinson arrived at the Tokyo airport and was was mobbed by hundreds of wailing fans. And they haven’t even seen his movie yet! Robert is in town for the gala premier and Kristen Stewart is expected also. Hugh Jackman happened to be on the same flight and even after hosting the Oscars, he was barely acknowledged compared to the “Twilight” star.

Marisa Tomei, 44, has nothing to complain about. Not only is she nominated for an Oscar for “The Wrestler,” (Don’t you think it’s time you SAW this movie?) but she has a hot boyfriend to keep her warm in Utah. She’s handholding with hunky actor Logan Marshall-Green, 32, who happens to have a Masters degree in fine arts. He was on “The O.C.” but we don’t remember him. The couple met last June when they did a play in New York together.
