Janet Charlton’s Hollywood Site Almost Live!
Thank you all for your patience. I searched high and low for new web assistance. During the middle of converting my Movable Type site into WordPress, my old site went down. We had nothing to do with that, but it added pressure, that’s for sure! We’re still fine-tuning it, but we’re very proud of our accomplishments. We restored comments, photos, entries, and made it easier to find info. Please continue to write me with your suggestions, tips and whatev. The best is yet to come!

PATTI SMITH IS IN NEW YORK WHERE SHE BELONGS

The “Godmother of Punk,” Patti Smith, just had lunch at Da Silvano’s in New York. It was way back in 1976 that she first appeared on Saturday Night Live and nothing was the same after that. She was a punk goddess who retired to Detroit for years to raise a family and after her husband died she started performing again. She retains her spirit and style.

WHO DIDN'T LOVE THE 80'S?
Filed Under: Downtown > Nightlife > Punk

Were you a regular at the downtown LA raves, loft parties, art events, and funky clubs in the 80’s? You can remember those fun and outrageous times at the Red Dot Gallery & Bistro at 500 South Spring Street with what they call a “live oral history panel.” The panel consists of reps from 80’s hotspots Madame Wong’s, Atomic Café, Gorky’s, Plastic Passion, and Al’s Bar, and they will all be reminiscing. It’s Sun, Feb 17, from 3 to 5 – you might run into some familiar faces there.
