No way could we ever imagine Queen Latifah’s no-nonsense Robyn McCall character on The Equalizer wearing THIS, but Latifah seems quite happy about it. Is she having a GONE With The Wind moment? There is a strong reminder of a vintage bed-skirt here. Latifah wore this amusing but inexplicable outfit to Byron Allen’s new GRIO First Annual Award Show celebrating his African- American oriented news website.

Here’s a reboot we might even watch. Queen Latifah and Chris Noth are back on the streets filming The Equalizer in New York. They’ve been shut down since March due to Covid. Latifah (real name Dana Owens) is both starring and executive producing. She plays Robyn McCall, a retired ex CIA agent (spy) who seems troubled by some past mis-deeds, and eases her conscience by helping people who have nowhere to turn to get justice. She has the connections and experience. (A man played the lead, Robert McCall, in the original successful series in the 80’s.) Having a female lead makes the whole premise more interesting, and Latifah makes it seem more fun. Above, Chris Noth plays her old friend and confidant.

With her talk show cancelled, Queen Latifah took to the sandy beaches of Miami for some fun with friends. The Queen Latifah show has stopped production, but new shows will air through March. Latifah remains optimistic- she’s already signed to star as Bessie Smith in the story of her life for HBO this year.

Talk show host Queen Latifah looks like she’s on her way to an important business meeting in her plaid suit, sensible hair, and glasses. But she’s actually in Las Vegas to celebrate the Jubilee Show grand reopening at Bally’s. Her great skin helps her get more work – besides being a Cover girl spokesperson, she has her own line of cosmetics for women of color called Cover Girl Queen Collection.

Jenny Craig will NOT be thrilled to see that Queen Latifah has gained back the weight she supposedly lost while involved in the diet program. Latifah and Kirstie Alley are two of Jenny’s biggest and most famous disappointments when it comes to keeping weight off. It’s not easy. But Latifah always manages to look good – she’s busy filming a new movie.

We’re longtime fans of Queen Latifah, and think she’s made some very smart career choices. However, her hook-up with Jenny Craig seemed peculiar because 5’ 10” Latifah has never really wanted to be slimmer – she enjoys eating and says she accepts herself as she is. In 2008 she claimed to have lost 20 pounds thanks to the Jenny weight loss system, but we never detected any difference in her size. Now the info has leaked out that Latifah partnered with Fatburger to open Miami franchises around the same time and didn’t want anyone – especially Jenny Craig – to know. Fortunately for Latifah, her contract with Jenny is now over so she can eat Fatburgers out in the open.
Aretha Franklin has resigned herself to the fact that her first choice to star in her life story- Halle Berry-doesn’t feel she can play the role because she can’t sing. Aretha was a little miffed, but says she prefers someone with “more confidence” anyway. Given choices, Aretha told Wendy Williams she can picture Jennifer Hudson in the part but for some reason, absolutely NOT Queen Latifah, who seems like a logical choice. Nobody argues with Aretha.
Queen Latifah gets around. Last week she was photographed frolicking with her constant companion Jeanette Jenkins on a yacht in the French Riviera. This weekend she was in Barcelona with another girl. They had a cozy dinner and seemed affectionate. Latifah and Jeanette have been together for quite awhile – they bought a 1.3 million dollar house together in Beverly Hills in May. Queen Latifah also has a 5.4 million dollar estate of her own in Beverly Hills and several houses in New Jersey.

It’s nice to be Queen Latifah’s girlfriend. The Queen rented a private room at Nobu in West Hollywood and held a private dinner party for around thirty people to celebrate her very personal trainer Jeanette Jenkins’ birthday. Outside the restaurant, a fully loaded shiny black Prius was waiting to surprise Jeanette. That’s a step in the right direction – two years ago Latifah gave Jeanette a new Range Rover.
