Nowadays when tourists want to get a glimpse of celerities, they don’t have to get on a bus that tours celebrity homes. They can just join the strikers outside film studio offices in New York or Hollywood. Richard Gere turned a lot of heads in NYC when he put on his sneakers and joined the march outside Netflix and Warner Bros offices. Big names are a great help in stimulating sympathy for the strikers. Unfortunately in Hollywood SO many businesses and people are suffering financially from the strike, that it’s becoming scary…

Alejandra Gere Kids Married Richard Gere

RICHARD GERE STILL ISN’T GAY

Along came the pandemic and we forgot all about Richard Gere. He became single in 2016 when his divorce from Carey Lowell was finalized (She remarked that she fell in love with his CHARACTER in An Officer and a Gentleman)- they had a cute son, Homer, who’s 22 now. After dating various pretty young women, Gere, now 72, settled on Spanish publicist/political activist Alejandra Silva (who is 33 years younger than he is) and they got married in 2018. She comes from a wealthy Spanish family and went to school in the US. They already have two young sons – age 2 and 3. The Gere family lives at his NY ranch but they often vacation in Spain. We remember back in the 80’s when Richard’s career was red HOT, that jealous guys liked to insist that Richard was gay, but it turned out they were wrong…

Feud! Greasers Henry Winkler Richard Gere Sylvester Stallone The Lords of Flatbush

THE LORDS OF FLATBUSH AND AN OLD FEUD

Here’s an oldie but goodie worth revisiting for a number of reasons. The Lords of Flatbush is a movie from the 70’s about a group of greasers from the 50’s. It starred Sylvester Stallone, Henry Winkler, and Perry King- all unknown at the time. Perry King had the lead because he got the girl played by Susan Blakely. Perry’s role was originally played by Richard Gere (who we would LOVE to have seen as a greaser) but Sly didn’t get along with Gere (called him egotistical) and eventually he told the director ”It’s him or me” and the director replaced Gere with Perry King. The feud still smolders- Sly and Richard Gere still don’t get along. Henry Winkler was SO memorable in this film that he went on to become the “ultimate greaser” on Happy Days.

How sweet is this photo of Richard Gere and his 9 year old son Homer? Richard and Homer are huge Yankee fans and go to all the games together. Here they are hanging out in the Yankee dugout before Saturday’s game at Citi Field in Flushing, New York. Homer has met most of the Yankee players. Gere says he hardly sees any movies any more because he’s rather spend that time with his family.

After all these years, Buddhist Richard Gere has not stopped fighting for Tibet at every opportunity he gets. He’s in Washington now lobbying congress to support Tibet on the 50th anniversary of the uprising in which the Dalai Lama escaped to India. Gere is hoping that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, despite her commitment to trade with China, will understand the importance of his cause.

Married to Keith Zubchevich for just a year, Nancy recently confided “I used to flirt with guys, but now I don’t – unless it’s Richard Gere. Keith doesn’t mind – because he (Gere) is old and wrinkley.” We’re still trying to figure out if this was an insult or a compliment.
