RICHARD LEWIS CONSIDERS HIMSELF AN EXPERT ON HOW NOT TO LIVE

When he was most successful, in the 80’s and 90’s, Richard Lewis always had girlfriend problems and he was so neurotic he seemed doomed to remain single. But after he became sober he married his wife Joyce and they’ve been together for 11 years. They seem like a good match – Richard has always worn black and she wears black too. A few years ago, Richard wrote a book called “How Not to Live.” He’s been on Curb Your Enthusiasm every season pretty much as himself. Lewis met Larry David when they were both 13 at summer camp! We expect to see him in the upcoming season of the show. (Yep, it’s coming back)

RICHARD LEWIS: SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE

We’ve always enjoyed frantic comedian Richard Lewis – loved his series Anything But Love, and recently, his appearances on Curb Your Enthusiasm. At 65, he’s still wearing all black and has hair to run his hands through. Years ago we were shopping in Bloomingdale’s women’s shoe department and, as usual, asked the clerk if any celebrities had been shopping lately. The salesman said “As a matter of fact, a weird thing happened this morning. Richard Lewis showed up as soon as we opened and he paced around the department fretting and talking to himself for quite awhile. We almost called security but eventually he disappeared.” Strange story – but later we learned Richard had a drinking problem and went to rehab so that explains it. We think. AL PACINO ON A HOT SUMMER DAY

Al Pacino has always been something of an oddball dresser – he constantly wears layers of black – even to the beach. Suddenly we realized that in this photo he reminds us of Larry David’s buddy on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” – Richard Lewis. They both have that rumpled, frazzled, slightly neurotic look. Al Pacino’s movie with Robert De Niro, “Righteous Kill” is also coming out September 12

Richard Lewis is in a great mood as he leaves his agent’s office. Curb Your Enthusiasm gave this neurotic comic just the jolt his career needed. Recently he’s talked to Howard Stern about his addictions to alcohol, sex, etc. We remember back the 90’s when Richard showed up in the women’s shoe department of Macy’s in the Beverly Center at 9AM, and he was pacing back and forth talking to himself and getting more and more agitated! The sales clerks got very nervous, but eventually he left without incident. He’s come along way since then.
