Katy Perry and Russell Brand are wasting no time when it comes to nesting. They bought this 3.25 million dollar, 4 bedroom, 4 and a half bath house in Los Angeles to call home. The gated house is modern and has rolling green lawns, a pool, and it’s not without humor – there’s even a teepee in the back yard. Katy’s having fun shopping for modern furnishings and art for their place.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand ALMOST went unrecognized in Silverlake, Cal, because almost everyone resembles them in this neighborhood of hipsters. They had brunch at Dusty’s Bistro on Sunset, and they each brought their own reading matter. It appears that Katy is carrying a fashion magazine and Russell has a script and a notebook.

RUSSELL BRAND STANDS OUT AT CRUNCH GYM

Russell Brand obviously doesn’t want to slip by unnoticed when he works out at the popular Crunch gym in West Hollywood. His red knee socks and white shorts would cause anyone to look twice at him – most of the other people in the gym wear drab sweats. Another reason Russell doesn’t seem terribly serious about his workout- he topped it off with a thick shake.

Katy Perry, clad in a “be afraid” t-shirt, spent an afternoon shopping on La Brea in Hollywood without her fiancee Russell Brand. She browsed in American Rag and found a never been worn vintage shirt that’s perfect for Russell. After that she walked down the street and wandered through vintage furniture stores, contemplating what to buy for her new house.

After spending the week before Christmas with her UK boyfriend Russell Brand, Katy Perry came home alone to LAX on Christmas eve. Her religious family lives in Southern California and they traditionally spend the holidays together. Wasn’t Russell invited? We wonder if there was a dinner table discussion about Russell and the fact that he’s rumored to have bought a 2.2 million dollar house in LA. UK papers say Russell has put his London home on the market and plans to move to Los Angeles for Katy.

VMA HOST RUSSELL BRAND: LOATHSOME, OR NOT SO BAD?

Russell Brand’s hosting of the VMA’s has been the subject of considerable conversation. Except for his appearance in the movie “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” few Americans know who the British comic is. The puzzled audience kept asking each other “Who IS this guy?” And a lot of his jokes fell flat- he mocked the Jonas brothers “purity” rings and called our president a “retarded cowboy.” (Wasn’t the word “retarded” just banned in the US?) He urged everyone to vote for Obama and managed to turn off EVEN the people who agreed with him! Despite his lame attempts to be hip and timely, Russell did walk away far more famous than he was before, so it may pay off for him.

Drivers on La Cienega were treated to an amusing scenario this afternoon. Russell Brand was on the street dressed in black with his crazy hair flying – he was doing some kind of photoshoot in front of Trashy Lingerie. He was posing with a mannequin that looked like it hopped right out of the Trashy window – barely dressed in sexy pink plaid lingerie. Brand and his “companion” even sat down on a nearby bus bench while a photographer snapped his every move. Before anyone could say “Have you got a permit to shoot here?” Brand leaped into a limo and was gone. They were probably shooting something for the MTV Video Music Awards, which Russell is hosting.

Here’s Russell Brand leaving the Roxy after the last of six sold out Sunday night performances there. He’s already a big star in England and Americans just became aware of him thanks to “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” His stage act is half rockstar and half standup comic and the Hollywood crowd loved him. Soon he won’t be able to walk around The Grove unmolested.
