It was quite a surprise to see that The Advocate gave a better review to “I Love You Beth Cooper” than it gave to “Bruno.” Does that mean the gay community doesn’t embrace “Bruno?” It would be a shame because “Bruno” IS the funniest scream-out-loud movie since “Borat.” Sacha Baron Cohen makes fun of EVERYONE and reactions to his outrageous character are priceless. We are still amazed that those Deliverance-type hunters even KNEW what “Sex & The City” was. Sacha is a brave man.

SACHA BARON COHEN CAME IN LIKE A LION AND OUT LIKE A LAMB

Sacha Baron Cohen walked INTO the Letterman show in New York looking like his normal dashing self, but he walked OUT afterward in full “Bruno” drag. Apparently he gave himself a radical “gay” makeover in the dressing room. This is the first time we’ve seen him NOT dressed like Bruno in quite awhile. It must be a relief for his fiance Isla Fisher. (We can hardly WAIT to see the movie.)

Another day, another “Bruno” premier. Sacha Baron Cohen obviously has planned an appropriately costumed stunt for the movie’s opening in every major city. First is was the Buckingham Place guards at the UK premier. Above, he was in Madrid, in anatomically correct bull drag, surrounded by sexy matadors. We love his showmanship. What’s he got in store for the USA?

Sacha Baron Cohen went all out and led a scantily clad all-male group dressed as Buckingham Palace guards to the London premier of his movie “Bruno.” His fiancee Isla Fisher discreetly arrived separately, dressed fashionably, and avoided the hi-jinks. Cohen goes to great extremes to publicize his films and they more than live up to the hype. ” Bruno” is getting rave reviews in Europe.

BRUNO'S CATWALK DEBUT

Bruno strikes again! Our favorite comic Sacha Baron Cohen has been in Milan for fashion week attempting to stir up trouble. Dsquared got wind of his plans and managed to keep him OUT of their runway show. But a lesser known fashion line, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, fell for his crew’s fake passes and allowed him backstage. Sacha was disguised as Bruno the gay fashionista (note the sideswept bangs and lip gloss,) and he burst onto the runway during the big show wearing a suit covered in velcro. Clothing, fabric and other objects were dangling from the velcro. He was promptly yanked off the runway and hustled to the police station. Presumably his crew got it all on film and we’ll see it in his next movie titled “Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of making Heterosexual Male.”

London’s Daily Mail featured this photo of celebrities having fun in Hawaii. There was an abundance of actors vacationing at the same time and they got together and rented a boat for a day. Sacha Baron Cohen is up front in the black shirt and white shorts, and you can see who the others are. Apparently Leo delighted in launching himself off the back of the boat and Tobey Maguire had a long conversation with Sacha.

If they were still alive, Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, who played the original Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson, might be surprised and delighted at the actors selected to reprise those roles today. “Knocked Up “ producer Judd Apatow has cast Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) as Holmes, and Will Ferrell as Dr Watson in his new comedy. The pair met when they costarred in “Talladega Nights.” We predict Sacha will be delicious as the showy detective who was a master of disguise and deductive reasoning, as well as an occasional coke-head. And if Will can muster up an English accent he should be fun as the fussy, protective, right hand man Watson.

Bruno is back with a whole new look! Sacha Baron Cohen has no choice but to metamorphosize his gay character because everybody’s catching on to his game. The faux-hawk haircut is gone – now he has more of a Zac Efron style. Sacha’s movie Borat was such a hit that it’s not so easy to find gullible people that don’t recognize his shenanigans. No doubt the new California law allowing gay marriage got Bruno activated in LA.

WE CAN HARDLY WAIT TO SEE BRUNO ON THE BIG SCREEN

Sacha Baron Cohen KNOWS it will be hard to fool Americans with his Bruno character – the outrageously gay Austrian fashion expert, since His Borat movie was such a hit. He had hoped to infiltrate fashion week in New York, but quickly realized too many people there know who he is. By necessity, supergay Bruno has evolved into more than just a fashion commentator. Bruno set up auditions in Sherman Oaks for children to appear in a “lucrative German car commercial.” Loads of parents and kids showed up. He got some priceless material asking eager stage parents questions like ” Would you allow your child to be filmed with ants or wasps?” Some of them were NOT frightened off by his swishy shocking demeanor. Next he donned his hotpants to do some kissing and gyrating in the Witchita, Kansas airport. Against all odds, it looks like Sacha is managing to overcome his fame and film a Bruno movie.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE FREDDIE MERCURY MOVIE?

Last year we were hearing all sorts of gossip about a Freddie Mercury bio movie that Robert DeNiro’s Tribeca Productions was set to produce. Freddie, the fabulously flamboyant lead singer of Queen who wrote most of their hits, died of AIDS in 1991. He was a fascinating rockstar with a propensity for spandex. Few people realized that he was an Indian born in Zanzibar who idolized Jimi Hendrix and Liza Minnelli. (Click here to watch him perform.) Johnny Depp was frontrunner to play Freddie in the movie and Sacha Baron Cohen was supposedly under consideration. Last we heard the script was being reworked. Who do you think should play the legendary Freddie Mercury?

SACHA BARON COHEN HOPES TO HANG A WARHOL ON HIS WALL

Sacha Baron Cohen is interested in acquiring modern art and he has his eye on a very special Warhol painting. Cohen saw the piece at a charity party at an LA art gallery and he was immediately drawn to it. In 1981 Andy painted a portrait of his last boyfriend Jon Gould, an executive at Paramount. It is NOT a lithograph like much of Andy’s art. Since Andy was in love with Gould, it’s an exceptionally personal and rare piece. The Borat creator has been negotiating to buy the multi million dollar Warhol and experts agree the value is likely to increase enormously, so it’s a good investment.

Apparently Bruno the fashionista is on the back burner for Sacha Baron Cohen now that he’s signed to play counter-culture activist Abbie Hoffman in Steven Spielberg’s “The Trial of the Chicago Seven.” The Borat creator actually has a lot in common with Hoffman. Abbie was known for his “guerilla theater” tactics in which he drummed up publicity for his causes by being funny – not violent. He knew how to use the media – once he got publicity for bursting into the headquarters of Con Edison, throwing soot in the air and on employees clothing. He said it was more effective than signing petitions for cleaner air. Abbie insisted that laughter is a better learning tool than serious speeches and from what we saw of Borat – Cohen agrees. By the way, Sacha will be taking home a six million dollar paycheck. Hooray for capitalism.

We’re glad to see Sacha Baron Cohen hasn’t lost his sense of humor. His “Sorry Girls, I’m Gay” shirt makes us laugh. He was out and about in Malibu with his pregnant girlfriend Isla Fisher and it got us wondering. Supposedly Sacha is very religious and insisted that Isla convert to Judeism for him. If that’s the case, why hasn’t he MARRIED his very pregnant sweetheart? What’s he waiting for?
