FRAN DRESCHER CAN’T RESIST A LITTLE GOSSIP

She’s the definition of having NO filter and SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher didn’t disappoint on the red carpet at the SAG Awards. Fran was asked by a reporter from People Magazine if any A-list stars have reached out to her with requests, now that she’s in charge of the powerful actors union. Without missing a beat, chatty Fran blurted out, “Barbra Streisand called and asked me “Why aren’t I covered on [husband] Jim [Brolin]’s SAG healthcare anymore?” Fans will remember Fran’s character on The Nanny was OBSESSED with Barbra, and the show even devoted an episode to her. No word yet on how Barbra will react to Fran’s revelation.

Fashion Grown-ish Harvard SAG Awards Yara Shahidi

YARA SHAHIDI HAS HER NOSE IN ALL THE RIGHT PLACES

Love, love, love Yara Shahidi’s outfit for the SAG Awards. It’s refreshing and original – and appropriate for an eighteen year old. Yara is a force to be reckoned with – she’s only 5’3” but already has numerous fashion and beauty contracts. She’s half black and half Iranian, and as smart as she is beautiful. The Grown-ish star will be filming while taking classes for her freshman year at Harvard, where she’s majoring in social studies aimed to accelerate her activism. We are impressed.

A League of Their Own Gay or Straight? Lori Petty Orange is the New Black SAG Awards

IS LORI PETTY REALLY A TOMBOY?

When we first saw this pink parachute outfit on the SAG red carpet we had no idea who the wearer was. Who would be caught dead in this ill fitting outfit obviously made for a MUCH taller person? We figured maybe a writer who didn’t get out much. But it turned out to be ACTRESS Lori Petty, 52, who built her career in the 90’s as a tough tomboy type in A League of Their Own and Tank Girl. To her credit, she’s currently appearing in a bunch of episodes of Orange is the New Black, which means she can AFFORD to look better. There has been much discussion about whether Lori is gay or straight, but the question has never been answered….or did this strange apparel answer the question?

Fashion Kristen Wiig SAG Awards Saturday Night Live

KRISTEN WIIG CLEANED UP NICE FOR THE SAG AWARDS

While perusing red carpet photos from the SAG awards we were struck by this picture of Kristen Wiig. First of all, she looks quite pretty – her comedy characters are usually monumentally unattractive. Also we like the simplicity of her understated outfit – she’s not trying too hard to outglam anyone, but she looks sure of herself. Best of all, the SNL alum didn’t ADVERTISE the designer – implying that she MIGHT have picked out the apparel herself. Also, no obvious borrowed jewelry. She didn’t pick up an award but the Zoolander 2 star scored with us.

Jon has had many nominations for Mad Men, but for some reason rarely goes home with a trophy. Still, he shows up for the events, and adds glamour to the evening.

It may have LOOKED like Jennifer Lawrence tragically ripped her Christian Dior gown at the SAG Awards, but it was all an optical illusion. When she stood up to claim her Best Actress award, she seemed to catch her skirt on a chair and open up the front seam. Women, including Nicole Kidman, sitting around her gasped. But when she stood onstage the gap had disappeared. It was actually the peekaboo design of the dress that made it APPEAR split, but it never was. Christian Dior’s little trick got a LOT of attention!

George Clooney’s girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis is going to need a huge collection of evening clothes for the next few months because George will be taking her to numerous award shows and film events. Last night they went to a film critics’ function in New York and this is just the beginning. George is a presenter at the SAG Awards and his movie “Up in the Air” is getting loads of nominations so he’ll be a fixture on the red carpet at just about every award show. Presumably, designers have been bombarding Elisabetta with possibilities.

Lisa Rinna SAG Awards

HAS LISA RINNA TAKEN LEAVE OF HER SENSES?

Lisa Rinna’s head since we saw photos of her at the SAG Awards in this dress with an impossibly high slit . We thought it was bad taste having her spanx or flesh colored underwear on display, but when we were told by people who examined the photos microscopically that she is flaunting bare skin, we were appalled. Consider the psychological implications. Is Lisa really running around in skimpy clothes without underwear like Britney in her crazy days? Is Lisa capable of such a glaring faux pas? Flashing to get attention is not pretty.

Mickey Rourke has developed the unfortunate habit of walking around with his hand stuck in his pants. No kidding, if he’s not carrying his dog, chances are his hand is in his pants. Is his belt too tight or does he have a bit of dyspepsia? It could be he’s totally unaware of it, but it looked particularly awkward at the SAG Awards on the red carpet chatting with Kate Winslet. (She pretended not to notice.) Hey Mickey, knock it off!

ALEC BALDWIN: IRELAND FORGIVES AND FORGETS

Alec Baldwin continues to score points with his lanky 13 year old daughter Ireland to make up for his infamous “rude little pig” remark. Ireland was Alec’s excited date for the SAG Awards and she wore a very grown up black dress on the red carpet. Ireland sat in the audience and watched him get TWO awards – Best TV Actor and Best Ensemble in a Comedy for “30 Rock.” It’s safe to say she’s looking at her dad with new admiration.
