TOM CRUISE GOES THE EXTRA MILE FOR HIS RELIGION

One of Tom Cruise’s buddies who went to school with him, had some interesting things to say about the actor before he struck it rich in Hollywood, to the NY Daily News. The boys were good friends at St Francis Seminary School in Cincinnati for the two years that Tom attended school there. A priest at the Seminary said that Tom barely passed the IQ test – the cutoff minimum was 110 and that’s exactly what Tom got. During those years Tom was a devoted Catholic who never missed mass, and aspired to be a priest, but he and his pal were asked to leave the school when they pulled a boyish prank. They raided the priest’s liquor cabinet and got caught. Tom‘s family moved to New Jersey shortly after that and his religious plans were set aside. Obviously Tom is happiest when he is deeply involved in a religion and perhaps that’s why he took to Scientology so readily.

Tom Cruise has endured endless tabloid stories criticizing his “religion” and Scientology’s peculiar practices. On the internet, he’s been teased about his short stature and endured gay rumors which were not true. He’s a well-behaved guy and probably the ONLY negative slanting stories that have been written about Cruise, involve Scientology. But ONE story drove Tom absolutely crazy. Life & Style magazine accused him of abandoning and neglecting his daughter Suri! With all the photos of Tom taking Suri to amusement parks and beaches and buying her expensive toys, we would have thought that if anything, he spoiled and OVER indulged Suri. No one paid a lot of attention except Tom who filed a fifty million dollar lawsuit. Now the magazine is hunting for inside information about Tom and Suri to back up their story, and Tom’s lawyer is trying to find out who the magazine’s sources are. Of course, the whole thing will probably end with an apology and a settlement.

Scientology might be suffering from image problems, but Tom Cruise is still a hot commodity. He was mobbed by fans outside Annabel’s in the UK as he arrived at a pre-BAFTA party without a date. Tom is in London filming “All You Need is Kill” with Emily Blunt. Inside the nightclub, Tom was the center of attention. Other celebrities including Christoph Waltz, Jeremy Renner, Bradley Cooper, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, made a beeline to his busy table to say hello and kept him occupied all evening.

We learned two important things from Nicole Kidman’s interview with Merle Ginsberg for The Hollywood Reporter. First of all, when Nicole tried on clothing provided for her to wear in the photoshoot, she decided she HAD to have one outfit. Instead of expecting to get it free like most acquisitive actresses, she pulled out her checkbook and paid for it. She said “I don’t take free clothes.” We LOVE her for that. Nicole’s name has come up in many Scientology stories and books lately. She would only say she chose NOT to speak publicly about Scientology (as we told you) – especially since her children Connor and Isabella are still Scientologists. Nicole refuses to confirm or deny the charge that the church “turned her children against her.” Hopefully, someday she will open up on this, but we totally understand her silence

SCIENTOLOGY: YET ANOTHER EMBARRASSING BOOK

Another blow for Scientology- and we couldn’t be happier. Pulitzer prize winning author Lawrence Wright has a new book called “Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the Prison of Belief.” It’s a very detailed well-documented expose that verifies many things we’ve always suspected. A few tidbits: Scientology leader David Miscavige viewed Tom Cruise’s exwife Nicole Kidman as “a goldigger who faked Scientology.” She nearly succeeded in pulling Tom away from the cult but eventually they tightened their grip and got rid of her. The fact that Tom is in awe of David Miscavige is apparent by the fact that he modeled his naval officer in “A Few Good Men” after Miscavige’s commanding personality. We can’t wait to read about the cult’s massive real estate holdings in Los Angeles.There’s a lot of juicy stuff in this book,so if you need another reason to dislike Scientology, read it.

British model Agyness Deyn , 29, and actor Giovanni Ribisi, 38, suddenly got married last year after dating only a few weeks, but they still seem quite happy. Her friends ARE concerned however because they fear she will become a staunch Scientologist like her husband. Giovanni, who hilariously played Phoebe’s brother on “Friends,” was born into Scientology and his family and friends are just about all Scientologists. When they first wed, Agyness insisted she wouldn’t change her religion, but recently she has been defending Scientology and most likely she IS getting involved. Scientology leader David Miscavige is not happy about the fact that the reporter who wrote a 24 article series exposing Scientology in the early 90’s for the LA Times is re-examining his experience in Los Angeles magazine. Before he wrote about the church, few people were aware of their malevolence. It took Joel Sappell five years to prepare the expose and he suffered appalling harassment at the hands of the church, back when they had money and power to burn. Even his dog was poisoned. Suddenly Nicole Kidman is making vague references to her marriage to Tom Cruise in Du Jour magazine, and she’s getting all KINDS of attention – simply because she has always been mum on the subject. But if you take a close look at her carefully worded recollections, they NEVER mention Scientology nor do they reveal anything personal about Tom. She was a naïve 23 year old aspiring actress when she married the Hollywood star. (He likes them young and malleable) Nicole’s most revealing comment was “we lived in a bubble and became very dependant on each other.” Tom separates his wives from their friends and family and HIS few friends are Scientologists. When he was asked why he divorced Nicole, Tom only said “NICOLE KNOWS WHY.” We think he caught her cheating. But Nicole has never addressed WHY they split. She’s happier with her life now and says “Before I was running away from life – now I embrace it.” Sounds exactly like Katie. (We can just picture Tom and his Scientology buddies going over Nicole’s interview with a fine tooth comb)

Tom Cruise wants the world to know that he has NOT given up on Scientology so he made an appearance at a special church event in England. Tom is in the UK filming “All You Need is Kill” and he took time to attend a $3000 a ticket Scientology Patrons Ball in Gatwick. He wore the large gold diamond encrusted “Medal of Valor” that Scientology presented to him for his contributions to the organization. He doesn’t wear it often so this was a big deal. Just as we predicted, Tom became even more dependent on Scientology when Katie filed for divorce. They advised him on all legal matters and kept him company when he needed it. So he’s not distancing himself – he’s more involved than ever.
