We LOVE filmmaker Paul Haggis – not only does he criticize Scientology, but he criticizes journalists for not asking Tom Cruise about Scientology! Former Scientologist Haggis spoke openly about despicable acts of the “church” in the recent documentary ”Going Clear.” This summer when Tom Cruise was promoting “Mission Impossible- Rogue Nation” his reps requested that reporters NOT mention Scientology. And they were too cowardly to do so! Haggis calls it “the elephant in the room.” How could journalists NOT ask Tom to comment about allegations against the church? Meanwhile, a Scientology spokesperson dismissed Paul Haggis as no longer “relevant.” Charming.
Looks like Giovanni Ribisi, 40, has a new girlfriend. Ribisi divorced his model wife Agyness Deyn earlier this year after a short two and a half year marriage. She moved back to London. You may recall, he played Phoebe’s hilarious brother Frank on Friends and he’s currently in “Ted 2.” Giovanni and his new companion had breakfast The Oaks Gourmet in Los Feliz, conveniently located right across the street from the Scientology Celebrity Center. Odds are Giovanni’s date is a Scientologist also. Ribisi and other famous Scientologists (like Kirstie Alley) tend to live close to the center where they enjoy red carpet treatment.

“Dharma & Greg” star Jenna Elfman and her cute little boy are preparing to take off at LAX. She’s an active and longtime Scientologist as is her husband, actor Bodhi Elfman. Every time we see her now we can’t help but think of an incident she had with an acquaintance of ours a few years ago. Independent filmmaker John Roecker was walking in Los Feliz, and he happened to be wearing a homemade t-shirt that said “Scientology is Gay.”(He’s openly gay himself.) Dharma and her husband walked up to him on the street and accused him of insulting their religion. A heated exchange resulted in Jenna accusing John of being a “baby rapist” – a term commonly used by members to describe “enemies of the church.” Shocking. Apparently, belittling Scientology equates with being a child molester.

Longtime Scientologist John Travolta has been laying low since the HBO documentary “Going Clear” blasted the suspicious organization. He brought along his son Benjamin for a visit with Letterman, and by the looks on their faces “The S Word” must have come up in an unflattering way. Travolta is promoting his new movie “The Forger” and we bet that talk shows won’t invite him on unless he addresses the Going Clear documentary. So far he insists that the so-called religion is “misunderstood” and advised critics to read the book “Dianetics” by L Ron Hubbard.

It looks like progress is finally being made toward Scientology losing its tax-exempt status – it’s being TALKED ABOUT! Alex Gibney, the documentary filmmaker responsible for HBO’s “Going Clear,” wrote an excellent editorial in the LA Times today titled “Scientology Should Not Be Tax-Exempt.” And boy, do we agree! He reasons that Scientology should not have their tax status revoked because it is not a “real religion.” It has a strange belief system – but so do other religions (virgin birth?) Gibney points out that to maintain the right to be tax exempt, religions must fulfill certain requirements for charitable organizations. They may not serve the private interests of any individual and activities must not be illegal or violate fundamental public policy. On these points alone, he says, Americans should not subsidize Scientology through tax exemption. Clearly, he has made a logical argument and we predict the downfall of Scientology is imminent. Footnote: Since DONATIONS to Scientology are tax exempt, we predict all kind of problems for celebrity members if tax status changes.
Wow! The LA Times has a great Scientology scoop today. Police records show that Tom Cruise’s best friend David Miscavige had his OWN FATHER followed, spied upon, and planted a GPS unit in his car for 18 months after his father split from Scientology. He was afraid his father would talk about the organization’s nefarious activities. The situation came to light when detectives hired by the church were arrested in Ronald Miscavige Sr’s neighborhood in Wisconsin – they were carrying numerous weapons, binoculars, computers, a GPS tracing device, etc. Eventually the detectives from Florida broke down and admitted they were hired for $10,000 a week by David Miscavige through another party. Here’s a SHOCKER: One day as they were watching the father load objects into his car, the 79 year old grabbed his chest and slumped over. Detectives didn’t know what to do and called their Florida contact and David himself called them back in person. He told them that if was Ron’s time to die, to let him die and don’t interfere. (He didn’t.) All this is in Wisconsin police records! Click HERE to read to whole juicy story!
HBO slammed a home run with their Scientology documentary “Going Clear” that debuted Sunday, and we applaud them for it. Everyone MUST see it! Having successful, well known former members lament that they can’t believe they were ever stupid enough to have been involved, was VERY effective. Best of all, HBO exposed the IRS disgrace: decades ago, Scientology harassed the IRS into declaring their organization a tax-free church. They went on to buy up block after block of valuable Hollywood property tax-free. Time for the IRS to RE-EVALUATE the taxation of all so-called “churches.” And Leah Remini wasn’t afraid to applaud the documentary.
(Above, this Scientology center was once a hospital)
Hollywood was taken by surprise when actor/director Giovanni Ribisi abruptly married UK model Agyness Deyn in a very private and tiny ceremony in 2012. Giovanni, who happens to be an exceptional actor, (he played Phoebe’s dim witted brother on Friends) was BORN into Scientology and has always been an active member of the organization. Suddenly Agyness was bombarded with questions about Scientology and at first she was nonchalant. Later she seemed to DEFEND the so-called religion and people assumed Giovanni was pulling her in. He couldn’t be married to a non-Scientologist. Giovanni has now filed for divorce – we wonder what Agyness has to say about Scientology NOW.

Kirstie on the TODAY show
Kirstie Alley is the picture of desperation. We always found her appealing as a performer, but Scientology and her continuous and illogical weight claims have made her less likeable. Eight or ten years ago Kirstie lost weight and credited Jenny Craig (for which she was undoubtedly paid an enormous amount of money.) Her ads appeared to be photoshopped, and it wasn’t long before she gained everything back. Then she introduced her Scientology backed weight loss program called Organic Liaison and claimed IT helped her lose the weight again. The Organic Liaison storefront in Los Feliz failed to attract customers despite Kirstie’s flashy grand opening. Kirstie plumped up once more. Now Kirstie is BACK on TV promoting Jenny Craig again! Can we believe ANYTHING she says?
Top Scientologists have no doubt been scheming and laying plans in preparation for an assault against the upcoming HBO Scientology documentary that promises new and juicy revelations about the so-called religion and its followers – including Tom Cruise and John Travolta. No stranger to controversy, HBO commissioned the documentary two years ago – right after the book “Going Clear” was released. The book includes filmmaker Paul Haggis’ experiences as a Scientologist. Producers are already bracing themselves for a legal attack from Scientology lawyers with plenty of legal counsel of their own. According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO hopes to show the documentary at Sundance and have a 2015 airdate. We can hardly wait!
