SEAN PENN HAS HIS OWN EVE CARRINGTON: IT’S BEN FOSTER
Filed Under: "The Messenger" > Ben Foster > Movies > Sean Penn

Ben Foster (the crazy killer in “3:10 to Yuma”) nervously paced outside, as the movie destined to make him a major player was screened in Beverly Hills. “The Messenger” is a very intense and exceedingly well done film about the military guys who have the difficult job of notifying families when a soldier is killed. Ben’s performance immediately brought to mind the fact that if Sean Penn were twenty-five years younger, he would have had the part. It was just his kind of role – a cocky character with hidden sensitivity. One can’t help but compare the two actors. Ironically, or maybe not, Sean showed up for the screening.

WHILE ROBIN WRIGHT PENN WAS BEING HONORED, SEAN PENN WAS CAROUSING WITH A SWIMSUIT MODEL

While Robin Wright Penn was being honored at the Deauville Film Festival for her new drama “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee” (about a woman with a cheating husband) her estranged husband Sean Penn was angrily avoiding photographers in New York. He and his dinner date, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Jessica White, ran in separate directions when they saw paparazzi outside the restaurant.

ROBIN AND SEAN PENN’S LAST CONVERSATION
Filed Under: Divorce > Robin Wright Penn > Sean Penn

We didn’t realize it when we posted this photo of Sean Penn and his wife Robin Wright Penn having an uncomfortable looking discussion last month, but their marriage was already in the dumpster again. The troubled couple has filed for divorces and separations in the past and always ended up reconciling. This time, Robin says it’s really OVER. She filed. Sean doesn’t look particularly happy about it, but he quickly resumed his night time socializing.

SEAN PENN MADE A HASTY DEPARTURE
Filed Under: Paparazzi > Robin Wright Penn > Sean Penn

Sean Penn startled paparazzi when he burst out the back door of Nobu to try and make a run to his car without being photographed. (Watch that elbow!) As much as he seems to despise photographers, we were surprised when he HIRED one to go along and shoot him while he helped rescue people during Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Sometimes these guys come in handy, don’t they? We get the feeling that Sean hates to photographed because he doesn’t want his wife Robin to know where he’s going.

SEAN PENN IS UP TO SOMETHING IN BRENTWOOD
Filed Under: Robin Wright Penn > Sean Penn

Sean Penn spends a lot of time in Brentwood for someone whose family lives in Northern California. The last we heard, he and his long suffering wife Robin Wright were reconciling, but it might work out better if they arrange to live in the same town. In the photo above, he was snapped visiting a female friend in Brentwood and as usual, he doesn’t look happy about it.
UPDATE: This woman has been identified as Robin and they both look miserable, don’t they?

ROBIN WRIGHT PENN DOESN'T NEED THAT LAST NAME
Filed Under: Cannes > Divorce > Robin Wright Penn > Sean Penn

We’re definitely “Team Wright” when it comes to the Robin Wright and Sean Penn divorce. It’s nice to see Robin in Cannes looking beautiful in a white suit – she’s there because she’s one of the jury of 10 judging the movies. Since her estranged husband Sean Penn RARELY accompanied his wife on the red carpet for HER special events, she probably doesn’t even miss him here.

SEAN PENN GETS INTO CHARACTER
Filed Under: Fair Game > Naomi Watts > Sean Penn

Sean Penn has acquired grey hair and a tummy for his role as the husband of Naomi Watts’ character in “Fair Game.” (This has nothing to do with the disastrous Cindy Crawford movie of the same name) Actually Naomi is the star – she plays Valerie Plame, the CIA agent whose status was revealed by the Bush government after her husband wrote an unfavorable article about the administration in the New York Times. The revelation put her in great jeopardy, and this movie is based on the book she wrote.

THE ADVOCATE DOESN'T LIKE SEAN PENN'S DICTATOR FRIENDS
Filed Under: Milk > Political Foibles > Sean Penn

Sean Penn (above with Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez) has been enjoying popularity with the gay press because of his sensitive movie “Milk” in which he plays gay activist Harvey Milk. But the biggest gay publication of all – The Advocate – has come out AGAINST Sean now! They can’t reconcile the fact that Sean openly admires Hugo Chavez and Raul Castro – dictators noted for persecution of gays (and others.) Fidel and Raul Castro put gays in concentration camps! The advocate points out that Sean Penn’s idea of political heroes completely conflicts with the free-speech message of his movie “Milk.” Good observation.

SEAN PENN: LOST IN THOUGHT
Filed Under: Lindsay Lohan > Milk > Sean Penn

This is Hollywood and that guy lounging on the stairs in front of the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood is Sean Penn. Is he musing his probable Oscar nomination for Milk, or contemplating that movie deal he discussed with Lindsay Lohan?

WOULD YOU TAKE ADVICE FROM SEAN PENN?
Filed Under: Political Foibles > Sean Penn

Last week the Screen Actors Guild sent out ballots to members asking them to vote for or against an actor’s strike. Days later every member got a phone call with a recorded message from -of all people- Sean Penn encouraging members to vote in favor of the strike, no matter what their current economic situation. The call was enough to make this guild member seize her ballot, vote for NO strike, and mail it immediately. Maybe he’s not the right person to be attempting to sway votes.

BEING MARRIED TO SEAN PENN COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MUCH FUN, ANYWAY
Filed Under: Divorce > Robin Wright Penn > Sean Penn

We can’t say that we’re surprised that Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn are divorcing. As we pointed out weeks ago, Robin showed up to support Sean at the premier of his movie Into The Wild but Sean did NOT accompany her to the premier of her film Beowulf. Years ago, when angry Sean moved his family to Northern California it did nothing to help his beautiful wife’s career, but of course, he was free to be wherever he needed to be for HIS career. Sean Penn seems like a guy who forgets to be grateful for all he’s got. Incidentally, Sean’s bad behavior is described in detail in a recent Whodunit on this site and many readers guessed his identity.

SEAN PENN CAN'T BE THE EASIEST GUY TO LIVE WITH
Filed Under: Robin Wright Penn > Sean Penn

We’ve always been fascinated by Sean Penn’s marriage to Robin Wright Penn. Despite being an accomplished actor, Sean still seems to be an angry and ungrateful person. Not to mention a know-it-all. Lovely Robin (who sometimes reminds us of Grace Kelly) seems like a beautiful prize that Sean is VERY lucky to have gotten, and their marriage has lasted 11 years. We can only IMAGINE what Robin goes through. Recently Robin was at Sean’s side on the red carpet at the premier of his directorial effort Into the Wild. Sean ignored the cameras and when Robin paused to smile for photos, he yanked her inside the theater. Weeks later, Robin walked the red carpet alone (where ’s the supportive husband?) at the premier of HER film Beowulf and she happily smiled and posed for the press. A photographer said “You’re SO much nicer when you leave that husband at home!” Robin couldn’t help but laugh.
