RIP Suzanne Somers. We were shocked like the rest of the world to hear about Suzanne’s passing today. Despite her curated image as a ditzy blonde, Suzanne was anything but, in fact, she was a feminist and trailblazer for equal pay for women. Back in 1980 Suzanne was starring on Three’s Company banking $30,000 an episode while her male costar, John Ritter was pocketing $150,000. Suzanne fought for equal pay but the network REFUSED and she left the hit show. Fast forward a decade – when Suzanne starred on Step By Step – she successfully negotiated equal pay to her male costar, Patrick Duffy. Suzanne also made millions on home shopping – selling everything from her Thighmasters to nutritional supplements and beauty products…

SUZANNE SOMERS HAS THE LAST LAUGH

The Carousel of Hope Ball in Beverly Hills brings out Hollywood celebrities from past generations – many of whom we haven’t seen for awhile. The event is appealing because the red carpet photo area features especially complex and flattering lighting so nobody looks bad! George Hamilton and his ex-wife Alana Stewart (Farrah Fawcett’s best friend) are still pals although they’re no longer romantically involved. Their E! reality series “Stewarts & Hamiltons” was canceled last year after 8 episodes. It’s nice to see Raquel Welch looking flirtatious – her wig business is thriving and she has a movie coming out called “How to be a Latin Lover.” Businesswoman Suzanne Somers is still selling ThighMasters, plus an endless array of books and products on TV. She’s probably the wealthiest of all.

We’re not sure we believe Suzanne Somers’ claims about her health and fitness products (or her stories about mold,) but we have to give credit where credit is due. She’s a smart business woman and as a result, has become very wealthy. The ditzy blonde from “Three’s Company” is now 68 and she looks adorable in this photo. Suzanne is wearing a Hawaiian inspired flower print sarong at Nobu in Malibu.

She’s made a fortune on the shopping channels selling all kinds of fashions, beauty products, and vitamins, and has written books about how to stay young with the help of hormones. Remember her Thighmaster? Medical experts have criticized her health advice, but she has plenty of fans who love her books and products. The former “Three’s Company” pin-up girl is 69 now and looks splendid. And she’s been married to the same man – Alan Hamel– for thirty eight years!

Not only is Suzanne Somers raking in the bucks on the Home Shopping Network, but she’s taken a tip from Tupperware and has reps throwing at-home parties to demonstrate her goods. Groups of friends – mostly housewives and gay men – have “Suzanne Parties” where they gather to cook and taste her diet food, try on her jewelry, test her beauty products, and demonstrate her “Face-Master.” Wine is served, everybody has fun and orders are taken on the spot.
