The Marvelous Mrs Maisel

RACHEL BROSNAHAN: FIRE YOUR STYLIST!

You can just tell by the stern look on Rachel Brosnahan’s face that something is decidedly wrong. Rachel is being photographed at the Venice Film Festival at the premier of her movie Dead For a Dollar. What’s WRONG is her ensemble, and she doesn’t look happy about it. The pink satin bustier is kind of a party on the top while the long pinstripe skirt is definitely business on the bottom. But both fail. It’s not easy for Rachel to look less than adorable – she’s always amazing in those vintage fashions in her series The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. Hopefully her movie is better than her outfit.

MRS MAISEL GOT IN OVER HER HEAD

Rachel Brosnahan in her vintage attire, has been all over New York filming The Marvelous Mrs Maisel for the past few weeks. Last night she met this adorable furry fan in the West Village. But according to Roger Friedman, she had a not-so-nice experience in Washington Square Park. She was filming a scene where Midge goes to a fake newsstand in the park (featuring newspapers with President Kennedy headlines) to read reviews of her last performance. A crazed homeless guy started throwing bottles and fighting with another guy and a homeless woman began screaming “prostitutes!” at the actors. It turned into a brawl and one guy actually got his hands on Rachel, but she was pulled to safety. Crew members jumped in to protect everyone and director Amy Palladino was in tears. Nobody was hurt, but that day’s shoot was called off.

MRS MAISEL SERIES IS A FEAST FOR THE EYES

We saw this photo of Rachel Brosnahan filming on location in New York and we fell in love with The Marvelous Mrs Maisel all over again. The production design makes us swoon, and the fashions, hair and makeup work on this series is beyond perfection. They ALL deserve Emmys! Just LOOK at the curlers Rachel is wearing in her hair to obtain the perfect wavy page boy from the early 60’s! We’ve never seen these curlers, but they are no doubt totally authentic from the 60’s time period of the show. It’s little touches like this that make Mrs Maisel so deliciously original. Can’t WAIT for season 4!

HOW MRS MAISEL KEEPS HERSELF LOOKING MARVELOUS

She’s still in New York filming The Marvelous Maisel, and Rachel Brosnahan has no intention of catching ANYTHING. She is still using her clear umbrella with a curtain and a personal oxygen source on top. Her portable tent does triple duty – keeps rain out, protects her from germs, and it also keeps her 1960’s hairdo and makeup perfect. A regular mask might interfere. That stylist behind her is also keeping a close eye on her artistry…

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS MRS MAISEL DOING WITH JOHN WATERS?

Rachel Brosnahan’s character Midge has made a lot of progress since The Marvelous Mrs Maisel started tentatively filming season 4 with STRICT Covid rules back in January. Note the clear bubble umbrella in the top photo with it’s own oxygen source on top!
(they took excellent care of their leading lady) Shooting has off and on continued in New York, and this week shows how much progress has been made. Midge is being filmed seated on a park bench (note the vintage coke) and she’s quite close to the two other actors – including John Waters far right! Can’t WAIT to see who Waters plays on the series!

FAME IS NOT YET A PROBLEM FOR RACHEL BROSNAHAN

Rachel Brosnahan is promoting the third season of her hugely popular series The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, yet she’s able to walk around New York pretty much incognito. (Keep in mind she’s already won seven awards for the show.) Part of it is the fact that Rachel is naturally blonde and her Midge character is a brunette. She went back to blonde for the spy drama Ironbark with Benedict Cumberbatch, that’s premiering at Sundance in January. Rachel says that when she leaves the house with no lipstick, dress, or heels, she’s rarely recognized.

ALEX BORSTEIN DOESN’T ALWAYS LOOK LIKE HER MRS MAISEL CHARACTER

Here’s an actress who doesn’t have a lot of glamorous photos in circulation. Alex Borstein, 48, has had a successful career in comedic acting and voice-over work, but we didn’t become aware of her until she appeared on The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. Alex plays Midge’s tough and mannish manager Susie and she’s won two Emmys for doing it. The cast is in NY promoting the new third season which premiers Dec 6 (we can hardly wait!) and Alex turned up in this cute red coat and fishnet stockings.

“MRS MAISEL” KNOWS HOW TO USE SPECIAL EFFECTS

SO happy to see that Rachel Brosnahan is in New York filming the next season of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. We are totally addicted to the look of this series. Not only are the late 1950’s fashions (and hairstyles) spectacular for all the characters, but the sets are mind-blowing. This season’s midcentury Catskill resort was perfection, but we fondly remember the first season when there were dazzling street scenes in New York’s garment district with every car, building, and garment true to the era. And racks and racks of fifties frocks were being rolled down the street just like the old days. These are the kind of turn-back-time special effects we appreciate – NOT explosions and car crashes…

RACHEL BROSNAHAN’S HUSBAND HAS NO PROBLEM WEARING A DRESS

Rachel Brosnahan’s husband really got into the spirit of the GLAAD Media Awards. The Marvelous Mrs Maisel star looks a bit doubtful, but hubby looks delighted with himself in the red chiffon gown he wore under his evening jacket. Rachel is an advocate for the LGBTQ community and GLAAD recognizes inclusive members of the media. We didn’t realize that Rachel’s husband, actor Jason Ralph, had such a sense of humor about himself that he can enjoy wearing a dress. It’s nice to see a guy not obsessed with his masculinity.
