Tom Hardy

JANE FONDA IS RIGHT ABOUT TOM HARDY

We don’t agree with Jane Fonda on a LOT of things, especially the fact that she seems to take on the lifestyle and beliefs of whatever man she is with. But we think she is absolutely right about Tom Hardy. Jane says Tom Hardy is the new Marlon Brando, and it IS an astute observation. Jane is correct to point out that Tom’s movie Legend, in which he played gangster twin brothers, deserved a LOT more attention and awards when it was released. We especially loved him in that retro movie because he had no facial hair and he has a face worth looking at! Yes, he is reminiscent of young Brando, and maybe someday Tom will star in the Marlon Brando story.

NEXT BIG THING: CELEBRITY SMILE MASKS

We actually expected this Covid-19 development to happen sooner. Leave it to the style capital of the world- Japan- to be first with smile masks. According to OMG, it started with the Japanese discount store Takeya – the store wanted sales clerks to appear more “friendly,” so they had smile masked printed up and handed out to each staffer. Now they are all happy, all day. The next logical development in this custom masking idea is headed toward celebrity masks – soon YOU can have the smile or sneer of let’s say, Tom Hardy, or perhaps Julia Roberts. It might be a little confusing for paparazzi…but fun for flirting in the supermarket.

WE WILL PASS ON TOM HARDY’S GROTESQUE “CAPONE”

Having read HORRIFYING film reviews of Tom Hardy’s Capone, (especially in Variety) we have removed it from our must-see list. Too bad, because we haven’t seen delicious Tom for quite awhile, but he is described as “unrecognizable” in the role, anyway. He plays the unattractive mobster in 1949 at the age of 47, when he was suffering from full-blown dementia caused by late stage syphilis, and living in Florida. When he isn’t slobbering on a cigar, or “retching into a bucket,” Capone was suffering from “explosive bowels” and wore baggy adult diapers. This monstrous version of a raspy-voiced Capone found him spending his days paranoid and hallucinating while recalling his violent criminal past. He wears pajamas and a bathrobe so there’s no sleek and fancy 1940’s gangster fashion, either. Tom Hardy had to pack on the pounds and shave off his hair for the part, besides enduring the repulsive makeup transformation. (All the chubby balding actors in Hollywood were busy?)

TOM HARDY IS UNRECOGNIZABLE IN HIS AL CAPONE DRAG

It’s not that we don’t like the idea of a movie about Al Capone in Chicago, but we are VERY disappointed that Tom Hardy was cast to play Capone, so he had to gain weight and disguise his good looks – AGAIN! Seems like Tom’s pretty face is always covered with beards or monstrous masks in his movies. The new film Capone covers the gangster’s life after prison when he suffered from dementia and relived his past through memories. Wouldn’t someone like Paul Giamatti have been a more appropriate casting choice?

TOM HARDY NEVER GIVES US ENOUGH FACE

Okay, we have to admit we are STARVED for photos of Tom Hardy without a beard. In his recent movies he’s always had his face covered with ugly masks or whatever – why hire a good-looking actor to play such a role? Tom is currently promoting his Venom movie in which he turns into another monster. The only time we could REALLY enjoy looking at him was when he played the Kray twins in Legend

ELTON JOHN HAS COME TO HIS SENSES

When Elton John announced that he’d cast Tom Hardy to star in his own biopic Rocketman, we thought he’d lost his mind. Of ALL people – Mad Max hunk Tom Hardy? It would be the HEIGHT of vanity. Hardy was up for the challenge, but Elton eventually came back to reality and settled on Kingsman series star Taron Egerton, 28, (above) who’s shorter and can also SING. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Taron is already recording songs for the movie. Elton’s husband David Furnish is producing the movie and we imagine they must have had SOME fun holding auditions for the Elton role.

DUNKIRK WARNING: TOM HARDY’S FACE IS COVERED THROUGH THE ENTIRE MOVIE!

Let’s be honest – Dunkirk is a movie made BY men, ABOUT men, FOR men. (There’s nary a female onscreen except for a nurse who died immediately) If you like to watch men fighting and torturing each other nonstop – this is your ticket. Director Christopher Nolan apparently realized that he needed a little something to attract a female audience so he included Harry Styles for the young ones and Tom Hardy for adult women. Unfortunately Nolan put Hardy in a plane, wearing a full helmet and face/gas mask for his ENTIRE performance (what a waste!) so we got no satisfaction. We never got to know and feel for the characters, who appeared and died abruptly, – no backstories, no connections, no sentiment. In spite of all that, it was a well-made film with a haunting soundtrack. Just know what to expect before you buy a ticket.

LEONARDO DICAPRIO AND TOM HARDY – WHO’S HOTTER?

146118PCN_Therevenant24cut

Leonardo DiCaprio, 41, and Tom Hardy, 38, are two of the hottest actors of our time. Surely, there is a bit of competitive spirit there. Both disguise their good looks with facial hair and Leo is about three inches taller. They ARE different types. The pair are costarring in The Revenant – a “man’s movie” with plenty of violence, revenge, suffering, and other manly activities in the early 1800’s. Can’t say we’re dying to see it…

TOM HARDY AND DOG: CUTENESS OVERLOAD

AG041967_01tomcut

This is a rare photo of a celebrity and a dog where the celebrity is just as adorable as the dog. Tom Hardy has never looked better than he does now – all cleaned up for his role in “Legends” where he plays the Kray twins. The twins were notorious but glamorous gangsters in London in the 60’s. Apparently one of them loved dogs.

TOM HARDY PLAYS GANGSTER TWINS IN HIS NEXT MOVIE

AG035886_02hardycut

It’s been awhile since we saw Tom Hardy all cleaned up and we almost forgot how hot he is. Right now he’s filming “Legend” – the story to the notorious Kray twins who were gangsters in London in the 50’s and 60’s. Hardy, 36, is playing both Ronnie and Reggie Kray and we’re guessing that guy in the vest is standing in for one twin or the other in long shots. The Kray brothers became “celebrities” in London – they ran nightclubs and palled around with Sinatra types. The slick brothers, one of whom was said to be schizophrenic, ended up with life terms in prison.
