LADY GAGA: HER LIFE COULD CHANGE AFTER FRIDAY’S PREMIER

Lady Gaga’s movie premier of A Star is Born at the Venice Film Festival is turning into a family affair. Gaga flew her mother Cynthia to Paris to join her and her boyfriend/agent Christian Carino for some shopping and fun before they move on to Venice for the movie’s world premier Friday. (It’s not in competition.) Today Christian and Gaga took Cynthia for a private tour at the Louvre museum. Gaga is probably a nervous wreck and very excited about her big movie because it already has Oscar buzz and could change her life…

JULIANNE MOORE: HER DRESS ADDS ABOUT 100 POUNDS

She’s still a beauty from the neck up, but Julianne Moore’s diaphanous gauzy layered dress has so much fabric that you can’t tell how small – or large- she is underneath. But the color is striking and it must be comfortable. Julianne is at the Venice Film Festival to receive a special award for her “excellence in art and social commitment.” She’s also presenting her film Suburbicon– directed by George Clooney.

OMIGOSH! THERE’S MORE OF JOHNNY DEPP TO LOVE

Johnny Depp showed up at the Venice Film Festival to promote his move, “Black Mass” in which he plays the notorious gangster Whitey Bulger, and he looks LESS like a gangster than he usually does. Perhaps those rumors are true. We’re referring to the stories about Johnny having a drinking problem. (The Shane McGowan influence?) He certainly doesn’t look as healthy as he usually does (a tad bloated?) and conservative attire isn’t helping any. His wife Amber Heard IS with him at the festival.

ZAC EFRON MIGHT HAVE FINALLY MADE A GOOD MOVIE

#zacefron #janetcharlton

Zac Efron and his costar Maika Monroe turned up on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival to promote their movie “At Any Price.” The film is about an agricultural family in a rural Midwestern town stuggling to succeed in the modern farming business. Dennis Quaid is a father hoping his children will carry on in the farm business he worked so hard to develop, while Zac Efron is the son who is not interested in agriculture. The fact that he has a movie in a film festival is a big step for Zac’s career and he’s gotten good reviews for his performance. (In the photo above Maika – who reminds us of Kate Hudson – seems by her body language to be more interested in Zac than he is in her.)

AL PACINO AND LUCILA SOLA: 40 YEARS AGE DIFFERENCE IS NO BIG DEAL

There’s no doubt that Al Pacino’s young girlfriend Lucila Sola cares a lot about him – she wore flats to the premier of the movie they did together. Pacino, 71, directed Lucila, along with Jessica Chastain, in Wilde Salome, which was celebrated above, at the Venice Film Festival. Al is busier than ever, having just finished the Phil Spector biography for HBO. Al and Lucila met during filming and have been together for at least six months – she and her daughter are living in his Los Angeles home.

SYLVESTER STALLONE’S EYEBROWS HAVE A LIFE OF THEIR OWN

Sylvester Stallone received a Filmaker Award at The Venice Film Festival and his appearance got the British tabloids buzzing. He was described as wearing “orangey” makeup and it was pointed out that Sly could arch his eyebrows without creating any creases in his forehead. We compared this smooth look with an early photo – and sure enough- he had more lines on his face thirty years ago. Sly treated the Venice audience to a sneak peek of some scenes from his latest effort “The Expendables.” (We wonder if the movie had botox in the budget.) Regardless, for 63, Sly deserves credit for looking better than most.

GEORGE CLOONEY HAS A SOPHISTICATED DATE AT THE VENICE FILM FESTIVAL

George Clooney’s date Elisabetta Canalis was a knockout at the Venice Film Festival. THIS time George didn’t have to take his date shopping for dresses before a big event. Usually the objects of his affection are young waitresses who don’t have evening gowns in their closets suitable for elaborate occasions. Elisabetta, 30, is an Italian actress/model with a job as a TV host so she’s a bit more experienced. George’s right hand is bandaged from when he slammed it in a car door. So he says.

DON'T COUNT MICKEY ROURKE OUT YET!

Life IS full of surprises. Just when everyone was writing off Mickey Rourke as an over the hill has-been, he pulled off an acting triumph! Mickey’s film “The Wrestler” was voted BEST MOVIE at the Venice Film Festival and he will certainly be an Oscar contender! In the movie, Mickey plays a heartbreaking character – an ageing wrestler who is in despair as his body fails him and friends desert him. It just goes to show that looks aren’t EVERYTHING in Hollywood – at least when it comes to men.

COSTARS BRAD PITT AND GEORGE CLOONEY PROMOTE THEIR NEW MOVIE

George Clooney and Brad Pitt got all dressed up and strolled the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival together. Their crime comedy “Burn After Reading “ was the big opening night movie. It’s about a bumbling pair of gym teachers who come upon a CIA agent’s memoirs and attempt to sell them. Of course, the fact that George doesn’t have a female date will start up all those ridiculous gay rumors again. For the last time, GEORGE IS NOT GAY!
