Vin Diesel

IS VIN DIESEL THE BIGGEST DIVA IN HOLLYWOOD?

The Telegraph in the UK asked this question and it appears the answer is yes. And Vin Diesel’s former co-star Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson heartily agrees. Director Justin Lin, who worked on 5 Fast & Furious movies and was set to direct the next two, just walked OUT because he cannot bear to work with Diesel again. Lin said the 10 million dollar salary was not worth sacrificing his “mental health.” We all know what Vin’s past costar The Rock thinks of him. The Rock praises his female costars but says the men are a different story. The Rock is known for being a likable guy on all sets and has little patience for tyrants – he doesn’t tattle, but drops hints. Diesel is known for keeping everyone waiting for hours on sets. The Rock turned down BIG money offers to work again with Diesel. Did you know Vin has it written into his contract that he can never be seen LOSING a fight onscreen? Isn’t that just too macho for words!

THE ROCK RISES ABOVE HIS FEUD WITH VIN DIESEL

We have to admit we were just a little bit disappointed that the feud between Vin Diesel and The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) did not flourish. Apparently Vin KNEW that Dwayne was NOT fond of him (he had criticized Johnson’s acting) when he published a plea on social media for Johnson to return to the Fast & Furious franchise. Certainly The Rock’s popularity added a lot to the films, but he made it clear he did NOT want to work with Diesel again, without actually naming him. (Diesel has a rep for being egotistical, late for work, and disrespectful to other actors.) Diesel’s social media message started out with the belittling ”My Little Brother Dwayne” and went downhill from there. Johnson’s reply was carefully worded and terse – he did NOT say anything personal about Diesel, but verified he wouldn’t be returning and wished everyone in the franchise well. It’s apparent the Dwayne has future public service on his mind- we think he will run for office someday…and why NOT?

VIN DIESEL CAN’T GET NO SATISFACTION

Little did we know that Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel has been involved for YEARS in a battle with the Producers Guild of America because they won’t recognize his work as a producer on the movie franchise. According to Variety, the Producers Guild investigated Vin’s desire to be recognized as a producer by interviewing numerous key crewmembers on the set to determine his actual contributions. They decided his main contribution was acting. Diesel wants to be recognized as a legitimate producer because he would not only be eligible to get a best picture Oscar, but better bonuses based on box office performance. Considering HOW MANY “producer” names we now see attached to any movie, (what DO all these producers contribute, anyway?) we think the Producers Guild should make their standards clear and high.

HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE TO MAKE VIN DIESEL LOOK MACHO?

Vin Diesel’s stuntman Joe Watts (above) is fighting for his life after a safety cable broke when he leaped from a balcony on the UK set of Fast & Furious 9 and he plunged over thirty feet and landed on his head. He is now in an induced coma and the prognosis is not good. Back in 2002, another of Vin Diesel’s stunt doubles was KILLED in a paragliding accident on the set. What is WRONG with these filmmakers? Is thrilling those boneheaded teenage viewers and enhancing Diesel’s badass reputation REALLY more important than keeping people alive? If actors had to do their own stunts this insanity would not happen.

DROPOUT VIN DIESEL FINALLY GOT HIS DEGREE

Here’s an outfit we never expected to see Vin Diesel wearing: a graduation gown. Space suits and leather jackets are usually his style. Vin was honored at Hunter College in New York with an honorary PHD, thirty years after he dropped out. Vin was the commencement speaker (he has the VOICE for it!) The Fast and the Furious star was an English major in college, working as a bouncer and hoping to become an actor. He credits his college education with giving him the talent to write a script about the difficulties of being biracial in Hollywood. Steven Spielberg was impressed with his work and cast him in Saving Private Ryan – and Vin could finally quit his job as a bouncer…

VIN DIESEL IS A DAD TOO

Vin Diesel, 49, is riding high these days with two hit movies in release. He’s come a LONG WAY for a guy who used to be a bouncer at a New York club we went to – The Tunnel! Vin likes to keep his personal life private but he’s definitely been coming out of his shell. He has acknowledged his girlfriend, Mexican model Paloma Jimenez, and occasionally is seen with two of their three children. (The latest was born in 2015 and named Pauline after Paul Walker.) Daughter Hania is 9 and Vincent is 7.

VIN DIESEL LOOKS GOOD AS A DAD

Vin Diesel made his cute little girl Hania, 7, really happy this week – he took her to a Beyonce concert. She got all dressed up for the event! Actually Vin’s whole family was there – his Mexican model girlfriend of 9 years, Paloma Jimenez, and their two other kids. Their youngest is named Pauline, after Vin’s Fast & Furious late costar Paul Walker. After the show he hustled them all into his van. Only recently did action star Vin become less secretive about his life and more public with his family.

VIN DIESEL LETS IT ALL HANG OUT

It’s comforting to see that Vin Diesel,48, lets himself go somewhat between action movies. His privacy was compromised when he walked out on the balcony of his Miami hotel and took his shirt off. It takes WORK to maintain that Fast & Furious physique. We remember the late 80’s – early 90’s when Vin was a doorman at various New York clubs – he was playfully charming and he had that DEEP voice that made people pay attention.

NO COUNTRY SHOULD BE DENIED THE SOUND OF VIN DIESEL’S VOICE

We haven’t seen Guardians of the Galaxy (surprise, surprise) but we’ve heard that the tree-like character that Vin Diesel plays has only three words that he repeats over and over: “I am Groot.” Diesel’s deep distinctive voice is a major part of all the characters he plays, so the movie’s producers had him dub his OWN voice in several languages: Portuguese, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese , Russian, and French. That way international moviegoers will get the full Groot and Diesel experience.

VIN DIESEL SOUNDS TALLER THAN HE IS

Vin Diesel wanted to stand out in the crowd of celebrities at the London premier of Guardians of the Galaxy, so he arrived on stilts. He’s 6 feet tall but he SOUNDS taller. Diesel supplies the voice of the Marvel Comics character Groot. Groot is a hulking tree-like creature with formidable powers. Since Vin isn’t actually SEEN in the film, he wanted to make his contribution clear – he wore a t-shirt featuring his character’s favorite saying, “I Am Groot.”
