WILDLIFE: CAREY MULLIGAN AND JAKE GYLENHAAL ARE FAR FROM PERFECT PARENTS

If you had a not-so-perfect childhood (isn’t that MOST people?) the movie Wildlife will bring you back to some very uncomfortable experiences. It’s set in 1960 and pretty housewife Carey Mulligan thinks she’s already over the hill at 34. She and Jake Gyllenhaal’s character have a 14 year old son who watches all their drama unfold, much like YOU did at home. Jake can’t hold down a job and he’s too “proud” to take one beneath him, so he volunteered to fight wild fires threatening his small Montana town, leaving his wife and son to fend for themselves. Lacking job experience, Carey’s practical housewife does what she figures she has to do – she gets a job teaching swimming and starts flirting with a wealthy single older man. The son is tormented by his parents’ actions and you can’t help but identify with him. It’s a wonderful script, beautifully directed by Paul Dano – a must-see if you appreciate sensitive films.

ZOE KAZAN AND PAUL DANO: POWER COUPLE GAINING MOMENTUM

Two of our absolute favorite Hollywood nerds are developing into quite a power couple. Zoe Kazan and Paul Dano have been together since 2007, and they’re both actors with higher aspirations. They collaborated on writing the script for Wildlife, their new film based on a novel about family dynamics starring Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal, and Paul directed for the first time. Speaking of family dynamics- Zoe gave birth to their first child (a girl named Alma) over the summer, and no one even knew she was pregnant! The Brooklyn celebrity couple manage to keep their home life under the radar.

DONALD TRUMP JR THE HUNTER IS A PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A MAN

What could be SADDER than seeing Donald Trump’s son triumphantly holding the tail he has just chopped off the elephant he killed. (TMZ) He claims he’s doing African villagers a “favor” by supplying them with meat, but that’s absurd. (These guys are wealthy enough to BUY the villagers food, if they actually cared.) Trump’s two sons, Donald Jr and Eric, are obviously too pampered and spoiled and they need to feel like macho men so they shot an elephant, crocodile, a water buck, a leopard etc. Like Michael Vick, they think cruelly stalking and killing animals heightens their testosterone and builds up their egos. This behavior is especially appalling when it involves supposedly civilized people. Hopefully, they broke some sort of law and will be punished. Meanwhile WE will not forget!
