ZAC EFRON AND VARIETY AT MY HOUSE!

How lucky am I? Zac Efron came to my house recently to be photographed and interviewed by Variety. To finance my website, I rent out my mid-century modern LA home (inside and out) to photographers and producers. It’s colorful, so I get a lot of popstars and celebrities being photographed and filmed here. Also music videos and occasional movies. Zac was as nice as he is good looking – no entourage and friendly to everyone. He told me he used to live in an MCM house in the hills, but people kept jumping over the fence and ringing his doorbell so he had to move. Here he is in my atrium…

ZAC EFRON AND ALEXANDRA DADDARIO: ROMANCE OR PUBLICITY FOR BAYWATCH?

Baywatch costars Zac Efron, 29, and Alexandra Daddario, 31, have been seen hanging out a LOT lately while on tour promoting their movie. They were very cozy on the beach in Miami and arrived in Sydney, Australia, looking very TOGETHER, luggage and all. Whether they’re drumming up publicity for the film or actually attracted to each other, remains to be seen.

ZAC EFRON’S FANS LOVE HIM NO MATTER WHAT

Don’t underestimate Zac Efron. He has a huge following of loyal fans who love his movies no matter how bad they are. And they spend money. The Zac Efron cover on The Hollywood Reporter is the best selling issue so far this year. (Number two is the Robert Pattinson cover.) Zac doesn’t NEED publicity stunts like his “fling” with Michelle Rodriguez to draw attention to himself. He’s currently filming “We Are Your Friends” in which he plays a Hollywood DJ struggling to become a record producer. Above, his character got bloodied up in a fight.

ZAC EFRON AND MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ ARE UP TO SOMETHING

Zac Efron and Michelle Rodriguez are on another sun- drenched vacation together – and we’re betting this one is free. Ibiza, Spain wants to retain its reputation as the celebrity party capital of the world, so photogenic celebs are PAID to show up at their clubs and beaches. Who’s going to turn down a free vacation? The more the celebs act up in clubs (like Justin Bieber and Orlando Bloom) the more fabulous Ibiza looks to the rest of the world. Club owners were smart to invite Zac and Michelle – they are the most “mysterious” couple around these days and sure to draw paparazzi.

Michelle Rodriguez Zac Efron

WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON WITH ZAC EFRON AND MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ?

This unexpected (to put it mildly) couple showed up in Sardinia where they’ve been vacationing on friends’ yachts. We never even knew that Zac and Michelle were friends. For the first few days they were doing a lot of athletic diving and swimming and sunbathing on the deck. Eventually, Zac, 26, and Michelle, 35, started nuzzling, touching and openly smooching! Reportedly, THEY COULDN’T KEEP THEIR HANDS OFF EACH OTHER! Keep in mind, Michelle’s last romantic partner was UK model Cara Delevigne. And Zac is SO good looking that the mere mention of his name inevitably brings up the question “Is he gay?” This pairing will certainly cause ALL sorts of speculation.

ZAC EFRON: WE KNOW WHAT YOU WERE DOING ON SKID ROW

You only have to hear the words “skid row” to know that Zac Efron is in deep, deep trouble. Imagine a good-looking, wealthy actor like Zac, having a fistfight with transients on the street! He’s following in the dismal footsteps of other former child actors with drug and alcohol problems- Brad Renfro, Nick Stahl, and Edward Furlong. All three of them were drawn the skid row for the worst reasons. Brad ended up overdosing and Nick and Edward are still struggling to stay alive, and their careers are in the dumpster. Hopefully, it’s not too late for Zac.

THE PAPERBOY: TENNESEE WILLIAMS ON STEROIDS

The audience walking out of a recent screening of Lee Daniels’ “The Paperboy” didn’t know WHAT to think. Some were repelled by the white trash vulgarity of the oversexed sweaty characters and others were mesmerized. Some seemed EMBARRASSED to admit they liked it! In the movie, it’s 1969 in Florida and Matthew McConaughey plays a reporter with a lurid dark side and Zac Efron is his sex-obsessed younger brother. John Cusack plays the most revolting character of all – a deranged prisoner who might be innocent of murder. Nicole Kidman is the desperate floozy who wants to marry her prison pen pal. Mix all this up with thick southern accents (especially Macy Gray the narrator) swamp dwellers, and racial tension, and you have a poisonous stew. But the movie is funny at times, surprisingly compelling, and you cannot take your eyes away. Some might call it lowbrow, but it’s entertaining.

NICOLE KIDMAN WILL DO ALMOST ANYTHING FOR A MOVIE, BUT SHE WON’T DO THAT!

“Precious” director Lee Daniels put Nicole Kidman through the wringer while filming “The Paperboy.” She not only had two explicit sex scenes, but a scene where she pees on Zac Efron after he’s bitten by a sting ray. And the whole movie takes place in the steamy Florida swamps in the early 70’s. Daniels says he shocked the actress when he insisted that Nicole would understand her character (the town hussy who has a pen-pal relationship with a convict) better if she did her OWN hair and makeup. To illustrate, he placed her in a room full of women who wrote to men in prison. AND he required that she “jiggle,” so she had to GAIN fifteen pounds! Nicole did as she was told until she got to the part in the script where her character had to use the N-word. She flatly refused. No WAY. Eventually, director Daniels relented.

At Any Price Maika Monroe Movies Venice Film Festival Zac Efron

ZAC EFRON MIGHT HAVE FINALLY MADE A GOOD MOVIE

Zac Efron and his costar Maika Monroe turned up on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival to promote their movie “At Any Price.” The film is about an agricultural family in a rural Midwestern town stuggling to succeed in the modern farming business. Dennis Quaid is a father hoping his children will carry on in the farm business he worked so hard to develop, while Zac Efron is the son who is not interested in agriculture. The fact that he has a movie in a film festival is a big step for Zac’s career and he’s gotten good reviews for his performance. (In the photo above Maika – who reminds us of Kate Hudson – seems by her body language to be more interested in Zac than he is in her.)

VANESSA HUDGENS AND AUSTIN BUTLER GET PLAYFUL IN IKEA

Something’s going on with Vanessa Hudgens and her boyfriend of nine months Austin Butler. First, Vanessa was seen moving large pieces of furniture out of her LA home into a rented u-haul – which the two Disney stars drove away. Later they were spotted at Ikea stocking up on bookshelves, tables, lighting, and art, like newlyweds. They loaded two carts with their purchases and had to put the stuff together when they got home. It could be that Austin in moving into Vanessa’s 5200 sq ft house – her last boyfriend Zac Efron shared the place with her. Maybe she’s getting rid of everything that reminds her of Zac.
