Whenever we see Charlotte Casiraghi we are reminded of how Grace Kelly’s genes improved the first family of Monaco. Charlotte, 29, a competitive horse-jumper and Gucci model, is Grace’s granddaughter. And she has a sense of humor – until recently her partner (and the father of her two year old son Raphael) was Gad Elmaleh, He’s 44 and a stand-up comic and actor described as the “Jerry Seinfeld of France” because of his observational humor. It has been said they split because he was always on the road. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. (Above, Charlotte at a recent riding event in Paris)

  1. Grace Kelly was exquisite. I think marrying Prince Ranier was a terrible mistake.

  2. @Natalie–they were a good fit because they were both highly promiscuous–just as all their kids and grandkids are. Monaco was in desperate need of money at the time because Onassis had stopped his funding, so although Rainier originally wanted Marilyn Monroe, he settled on the ostensibly “classier” Grace to bring in tourists and much-needed cash. There was never a question of love or affection that entered into this deal.

  3. Upholding the tradition of illegitimate children! Btw, if you ever watch Grace Kelly walking down the aisle to her homely looking Prince at her wedding, watch her expression. She looks like she’s going to her execution, as I would feel too if I had to marry that disgusting little man!

  4. It’s been rumoured that Grace Kelly was originally a high priced escort to Rainier. He made an honest woman of her. She was beautiful but hopped a lot more Hollywood mattresses than Marilyn Monroe.

  5. @MissEva – I recall reading a biography about Grace Kelly. It was a long time ago, so my memory is a bit sketchy here, but the biographer made it sound as if Grace was always trying to win her father’s approval. One of her sisters, for whatever reason, was her father’s favorite. But in marrying the Prince, she finally had her father’s admiration. At least that’s how I remember the biography. Personally, I think she was too good for him and should have continued her film career and stayed in the U.S. She could have had her pick of men, when the time came that she wanted to get married.

  6. Ah, but those genes will age just like everyone else.

Poor Aunt Stephanie looks like an old saddle. 🙁

  7. I read (forgot the source) where a very credible informant said Grace had many many flings, mostly with her leading movie co-stars.

The Prince did not make an honest woman out of her. Au contraire, the cheating continued by both the Prince and Grace. the old old story continues.
