It was quite a ceremony- fans gathered on Hollywood Boulevard as Cher got her handprints in the much desired cement outside Grauman’s Chinese Theater. She installed her hand and footprints not far from Clark Gable’s, and sprinkled her wet cement with a poof of gold dust for added character. Just then, a double decker tour bus drove by and WHO happened to be on the top level but the 33 Chilean miners! Upon seeing Cher, they screamed and hollered and disrupted the event when all attention turned to them. Cher got a kick out of them and the only drawback to the occasion was the fact that Cher’s dress was so short her blue underwear was frequently visible.

I never understand criticism of Cher, and agree with PitBull that at least she was wearing underwear. Those legs of hers are just too good to hide. Cher is fierce, always was, always will be.
I don’t think those miners knew who/what was going on. Everyone who gets on one of those double-decker buses always seem to do it bit of “rebel” yelling riding down the street. It was no big deal. I was there and although I didn’t know who those people were, you forgot about it, just as fast as they rode off! It is kinda funny now that I know who they were!
I live in the Vegas area and people who work for and around her said, she’ a totally jackass. Treats the maids and waiters like they are a pile of shit on ground. I’ve never been a fan.

I went to a screening of Moonstruck at LACMA sometime last year where she showed up in full regalia for what was supposed to be a perfunctory 30-minute post-screening Q&A. She told stories and jokes for almost two hours. Fabulous chick.

Sonny should have gotten the accolades too. without him, there would have been no Cher. But I love her too, just wish to hell she had kept her real face which was far superior to this big-lipped, swollen-cheeked mess. The close-ups of the movie trailor make her look like her facial skin will break open and split off any second just by talking. It bums me out that she has ruined the original which was not flawed at all and replaced her with this plastic inferior version, but still love her guts and honesty.

Sal, so agree RE Cher’s face. Cher was BEAUTIFUL back in the old days. Boob lifts and dental work were one thing, but then she started rearranging her face, and turned herself into a dark-haired Barbie doll. That was a crime.
Yes, she had small but perfectly acceptable boobs. Nothing wrong with them at all. Now they are like everybody else’s and just skin-covered plastic bubbles. The teeth, yes, I agree those were rank when she first started and they’re much better now, but I sure miss her original face and body and the long sleek straight hair better than everybody else’s. She was really hot on the Sonny & Cher Show.

She was THE ONE that I watched every week on the Sonny & Cher show. Those outfits……they mesmerized. And the skits were good….subversive for the times. I dig me some Cher (but yeah, she was so cute back in the day….she never should have gone under the knife.)
Hey Teddy, thanks for tugging on some memories. Cher was quite subversive, in many ways. She was the anti-Hollywood-blond back then — she was very exotic, and had a style and manner that was more European than American. And she and the show’s writers did let loose some very sharp barbs at times. Hell, just the fact that she was so sassy with her older husband was a statement — it was clear he was no Svengali, and she was no cutie-pie wifey to be controlled. I always think of her as the antithesis of Susan Saint-James’character on MacMillan and Wife.

I hate this song and most of what she sings sounds the same. I only liked the old Sonny and Cher show. Btw, how many times is she going to ‘retire’ anyway? She did a TV special not long ago and said this was definitely her very last public performance.

Just read an interview this morning of her saying she was never going to retire, and she even said that without Sonny she would have never been anything. She said she left him because he had been cheating on her. I’d never heard of that one before. I was bummed when they split because I liked them together so much and really liked the way they soundd together too. I may have been the only one who really liked his voice, but they bounced off eachother well and with his lyrics, it was the complete package.
I like her personality, her honesty, her boldness, her non-judgemental acceptance of others.
I feel badly for her daughter/son Chaz because she/he just never seems to get any happier, just gets larger and larger which sure shows a sign of being UNhappy. With all the money she/he could need to get help, he never quite seems to ever find the answer. Being that internally unhappy with oneself has got to be unrelentingly painful.
I’m sure Cher struggles with it herself and why her daughter seems so unhappy.
You guys are too funny. I love how you assume things. Cher had her breats lifted which is actually a reduction. She does not have implants as anyone can clearly see. She’s about 25 lbs heavier than when she was on the S&C show…that would make a womans chest bigger naturally! She still has her long hair but chooses to wear wigs to change her hairstyle rather than cuttng/dying it. I agree some wigs look wigey and some look so real you would think she did cut her hair. Stop picking her apart…she’s human like everyone else. You have no idea what it’s like to be a woman in Hollywood…
