Sad news. We just learned that the Dave Matthews Band saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who was in an all terrain vehicle accident last month, has died at an LA hospital. LeRoi, who has been with the band since it started, was seriously injured in an accident at his ranch in Virginia. He was slowly recovering but suffered lung complications and hasn’t been able to perform. We were told that against doctors advice, he flew to LA to be with the band backstage when they open tonight at the Staples center. The flight may have affected him adversely and he died today.

I highly doubt Roi would fly all the way to CA just to be backstage when he’s recovering

Until the band makes a statement, nothing is official. Just because you have a blog doesn’t make it a damn fact.

why dont you believe this? this is not something someone makes up….

Nobody should make stuff like this up. But that doesn’t stop people. Nothing official has been released from the band, so how can someone who writes an entertainment blog be considered a reliable source?!?!?! The only thing the internet does is perpetuate rumors. Did you notice in the about Janet section it says “Welcome to my gossip site.” Enough said.

If this is true, listen to your doctor. This is what you pay him for.

I just heard from a reliable source that it’s true. Wait and see. I wish I was wrong.

The word now is that it’s a member of the crew who died in a car wreck on the way to the venue, bu that’s uncofirmed at this time, as is the ‘story’ quoted above.

Sadly, this news is true. I received a call about an hour ago from a mutual friend of the band. I can’t confirm the part about the plane, but I can tell you that LeRoi has passed away.
I think it’s understandable that the band might have more pressing thoughts at this time than releasing a statement or updating a website.
Tonight’s show has been canceled and fans are being turned away from the venue… take that to mean what you will.

I really hope this is some jackass jumping the gun! If it is not true this site should be ashamed of its self! Leroi is a dear sweet man who plays so sweetly and beautifully…….Gosh, this sucks, I wish I never saw it!

I just talked to someone buying posters at the venue, so the show is NOT canceled.

the band released a statement….TMZ.com quotes a DMB “rep” as saying, “LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. Moore had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.”

Wow. I was told that they were turning fans away at the Staples Center…. this will be a crazy night if that show is going on.
I don’t know how you go on after news like this. Music heals… but this only happened a few hours ago.
If I had gotten the info on LeRoi elsewhere and heard this show was going on, I’d assume it was a bullshit hoax. But I was told this by a musician friend who is very tight with the band, so if this were a hoax it’s one that spread throughout the band’s inner circle…. which I can’t believe would happen. It would be too easy to just pick up the phone and confirm it was bullshit.
So based on my source I can only assume that LeRoi has passed…. and if this show is in fact going on I’m all the more shocked at the band’s resolve.

Although it’s true and soooo sad Roi has left us….thankfully with plenty of beautiful music to remember him with….it’s a shame that reports and assumptions are made before the facts are uncovered….Hopefully Janet will update her report soon…..with the true facts….

ATV’s are dangerous. Didn’t Ozzie Osbourn get seriously injured on one not to long ago?
This is so sad especially since it sounds like this could have been avoided had he heeded his physicians advice.

Love him or hate him, this guy is a loudmouth who doesn’t hesitate to tell it like he sees it- but there’s one thing he NEVER talks about: his prostate problem. Long story short: he LEAKS! He likes to project an image of macho virility, but under his custom made suits are custom made “diapers.” He’s VERY self-conscious and has absorbent but undetectable “panty liners” sewn into all his underwear, to avoid wet spots. Thanks to his arrogant behavior, he has more than a few enemies and he’s terrified his secret will be exposed and he’ll be forever ridiculed!
