Did anyone else notice that David Duchovny has been looking a bit thrashed and rough around the edges lately? Like he’s been sleeping in his car, or something. His recent abrupt announcement that he’s checking into sex rehab indicates one of two things: First, his wife Tea Leoni caught him red-handed cheating, and his claiming that he has a “treatable disorder” might get him off the hook. (We suspect she doesn’t really want a divorce.) The second possibility is that someone he cheated WITH sold her story to the National Enquirer and it’s about to come out. Those are the only reasons we can think of that would cause an actor to publicly announce that he has a compulsive sexual disorder. We hope his marriage survives.

Why would you hope the marriage survives? That’s like saying you hope Tea Leoni has so little self respect that she sticks with a guy who betrayed their relationship, thereby teaching her children that it’s okay for guys to be cheating bastards and imperative for women to put up with bad behaviour. She can do better. The children will be fine.
I’m tired of spoiled rich folks calling their weaknesses “addictions”!!! Take responsibility for your own actions already!!! And if you’ve got a wife and kids (you want to keep that is) KEEP IT IN YOUR PANTS UNLESS YOU’RE AT HOME)!!!

What’s the deal here? Did he cheat multiple times, have a conscience, tell Tea, promise to go to sex rehab? If so, will she kick him out? We haven’t heard all the facts, such as what does Tea think of him going to sex rehab.

The THIRD possibility — or is it just a happy coincidence? — is that this is all a rather extreme way of promoting his cable TV show, in which he plays a character who is “sex addicted.”
Um… didn’t Palin pose as Mom to her daughter’s child? On topic: Duchovny is hiding something too. Yeah. Why do humans bother to try and impress each other anyway?
Who in the HELL would screw this loser? Maybe just to say you’ve screwed a “star”, but that’s about it, in my opinion. I just never got what women see in him. Again, my opinion, before I get jumped on.
Everyone, as a sex addict myself, I want to give Duchovny the benefit of the doubt. Sex addiction is real and I suspect that Duchovny probably is in some sort of legal trouble to make such an announcement. (Just a guess). I know many sex addicts who have been arrested or lost their jobs because of their behavior, which can tend to be on the “fringe” — probably the same for Duchovny. His wife is probably in her own hell dealing with this. I have compassion for him and don’t think this is fake or a desperate grab for attention.
The truth is that a many people don’t understand sex addiction and think how great it would be to have sex all the time. Not true. Duchovny has my empathy here. It *is* an addiction and America’s weird relationship with sex makes it a very misunderstood addiction with a lot of judgment.
I hope Duchovny can get some help and some sobriety under his belt.
6:04 AM: Maybe one way (the only way) to help would be force yourself to think of Christ and the world to come and if you are saved or not. This addiction is not understood, and I am sure we don’t mean to be hateful. Just read Gospel of John, Romans, and Ephesians, and PRACTICE thinking of heaven.

Does sex addiction mean that your wee-wee is on a continual hard without taking Viagara? Or is it when you see one of the many whores (that are everywhere) you get an ache or what. I truly don’t know. Is this a chemical imbalance in the brain? What do the sex addiction specialists do for this? The first I heard of this was when Michael Douglas had it. Wow.

I am a sex addict and I attend 12-Step recovery meetings to help me with the addiction.
Many sex addicts have different issues — it’s not like being an alcoholic, where everyone who is “recovered” abstains from using alcohol.
Some sex addicts are addicted to internet porn and the masturbation that goes with that.
Some sex addicts have an addiction to prostitutes or massage parlors.
Some sex addicts enjoy anonymous sex or bathroom sex (hello, Larry Craig!).
The program of Sexual Compulsives Anonymous says “Physically, we engage in sexual behaviors that we know are not healthy for us or that place us in legal, physical, or spiritual jeopardy. Emotionally, we experience a ‘high’ in contemplating and engaging in the ‘acting out’ behavior, followed by an emotional let-down after acting out has concluded. Spiritually, we feel disconnected from others, especially from relationships we want to be ‘healthy’ ones.”
As for Christ and Religion … not everyone in the world is Christian or religious. It is possible to get help WITHOUT turning to God. Churches tend to be very judgmental about sex, especially toward gay people.
If God helps you abstain from compulsive sexual behavior, then I am happy that works for you. Please don’t judge me if I choose a different path.
