DAVID HASSELHOFF: THE BRITS DON’T LOVE HIM LIKE THE GERMANS DO

Maybe David Hasselhoff’s inexplicably good luck is finally running out. No matter how awful his publicity, boozer Hasselhoff always seems to bounce back with a new job. But Simon Cowell has come to regret replacing himself with Hasselhoff on his UK hit show “Britain’s Got Talent.” Ratings are dipping, and Cowell is convinced that viewers have not embraced The Hoff. Also, David has great difficulty understanding the British and Irish accents and colloquialisms. Insiders expect Hasselhoff will be replaced at the end of this season.

  1. Sidebar: I always laugh every time I watch an American show and they subtitle people just because they have accents!

  2. To be fair, fast talking Brits can be just as difficult to understand for Americans as fast talking Americans can be difficult for Brits to understand. It has to do with the ear being accustomed to hearing certain words pronounced in a certain way, and when colloquial specific expressions are thrown into the mix, it can be challenging to comprehend at times.

I used to spend summers with relatives in Britian when I was growing up, and at first I had to politely ask them to speak slower until I got used to the accent. I did the same for them. It sure beat everyone having to continually ask the person speaking to repeat him/her self.

That said, Simon Cowell screwed up. Apparently he skipped auditioning Hasselhoff to see if he was a good choice for the show.

  3. after david & vicky backham lied to the press about the united states they almost hate americans……
    (the backhams included)

  4. He has trouble because he pickled his brain with all the booze.

  5. Why is this horrible creep still around. Banish him to some back-water 3rd world country that thinks he’s great.

  6. Janet, contary to popular theories, Germans certainly Do NOT revere David Hasselhoff. Get your facts in order.
