What would YOU do? By now most of you have read about Diana Ross’s recent diva antics at La Scala in Beverly Hills. According to Page 6, Diana arrived early without a reservation to meet her daughter for lunch. The restaurant has a policy of NOT seating incomplete parties without a reservation. Ross asked to be seated right away and was denied, so she marched to a corner booth and sat down defiantly. Management informed her of their policy and said that if she cut the line and sat before her daughter arrived, she would NOT be served. She wouldn’t budge and when her daughter came they both made a big scene and stormed out of the restaurant. LaScala owner GiGi Leon defended his policy and said “We treat everyone the same, whether they’re famous or not.” (You’ve gotta love him for that.) Out of respect for the veteran diva, should he have asked the people in line to allow Miss Ross to cut ahead of them? Or was he right to maintain his fair policy? What would you have done? Absolutely correct. Spoiled arrogance is not attractive nor should it be tolerated. She is lucky that I was not at the restaurant. I would have recorded the whole sordid situation and posted it online for all her fans to see.
I just happened to be there. Gigi is a true professional and naturally did the right thing. When Diana thinks about it Gigi did the right thing for her, for the other diners, for her servers, and for the hard earned fifty year history and reputation of La Scala.
I don’t understand Diana’s little fit but things must be going on, unhappy things. She is one in Hollywood who does not give her 10 or 20 dollars to Focus Adolescent Services, http://www.Focusas.com / The same folks who give a cool milllion to some politician or to save a furry animal find it difficult to give pocket change to help save children and families in America. I know for a fact that through their free national helpline that many Brentwood residents have been saved or their children saved throught the free national helpline that Focusas.com has. Diana knows the same people too. Why she won’t give a dime worries me. If I recall correctly, probably two decades back Gigi had a collection jar right there for a month. It may have been as much as $20,000 given in checks and in cash. Peel those century notes off gang and help save American children. Diana, give them a call; you are really a wonderful person and I love you.
Of course he did the right thing. Good for him that he didn’t back down.
Hasn’t she always acted like an arrogant diva? Good for the restaurant for sticking to their policy.

It was an asshole move on her part, but I can easily imagine a regular (non-celebrity) asshole doing the same as her.
He did the right thing. She has a reputation for this kind of behavior.

I’ve read that Miss Ross MUST be called Miss Ross only. Further, she is not to be looked at directly in the eyes and they cannot speak to her unless she speaks first. Since I believe this is not just gossip, but true, she should just have left the instant the management looked her in the eye and did not lower his gaze.. Wouldn’t that very thing just have frosted her diva-ness and caused her to storm out. Lord have mercy, these divas act like that and don’t care how the general public HATES this type of behavior.

I think the spin you put on this yellow journalism is just that spin. How many people were waiting in front of her? Is it possible that no one was waiting? Were you there? I think the restaurant was way out of line. In Hollywood’s history do most Superstars stand near the entrance waiting? Get real. Miss Ross will always be Miss Ross. @Storm, Why do you keep bringing up the words Black and Predsident Obama? If Ms. Ross was White and Romney president would her attitude be more accepting to you? Could she be seated without a reservation then? A star (some of them) acting this way in Hollywood is nothing new….is it? The word diva has been associated with Ms. Ross since forever. She has been allowed at the front of the line many times, as have other stars. It has NOTHING to do with skin color.
I don’t even know why I am bothering with this, people say things online that they would never dare say in public in front of a group for fear of exposing either their stupidity, lack of education or racism.

Barbara Walters enters and because her daughter is late, she is told to wait.
Laura Bush arrives to have lunch with her two daughters and Jenna is running behind so the former First Lady is told to wait.
When I go to my church, our first lady is given difference of being seated before the rest of us.
Even though she doesn’t work there, the wife of our company’s board chairman is allowed access at all times.

She is Diana Ross. You may hate her or you may be indifferent but for 5 DECADES she has entertained millions of people all over the world. There isn’t a country that doesn’t know her name. She is a Superstar.

Someone should make Janet Charlton wait at her next outing. She is just a yellow journalist but if anyone knows that what happened at La Scala was handled right BY THE STAFF, Ms. Charlton should know.

I get it now. If you are not a celebrity. If you are an average Jane or Joe getting up every morning fighting against an unfair world and finding most things challenging in your life, it is only natural to resent certain celebrities. So it doesn’t matter what anyone says who totally disagrees with La Scala. I have phone La Scala and spoken to the manager directly to voice my objection to what happened. I also sent a letter to the owner.

Funny thing is it is different for a celebrity. She was very nice to all of us (the other customers: yes I was there). Things were getting a bit out of hand (say what you want but she is a BIG star) and she was stuck in the middle of it. Still she signed autographs and was cordial for at least 30 minutes. She asked to sit down and the waitress/host rather loudly and rudely said she would have to wait like everybody else. It was uncalled for and the waiting patrons let her know it. She (the hostess) went to the back and then the manager came out and started a fuss. And then her daughter showed up and that’s when it all came to a head. I am amazed at how this story has gotten so turned around. Great press for the restaurant I suppose.
