These black and white rarely seen photos of Elvis turned up in a London newspaper. They were taken by a guy named Alfred Wertheimer, who was hired by RCA to follow Elvis around for a few weeks right before he became a big star. He snapped around 4000 candid shots – most of which never saw the light of day. When Elvis hit it big, Colonel Parker had to approve every photo released and he was VERY particular. (The top photo featured Elvis reading comics on a train from Memphis to New York, in the middle photo Elvis is pretending to strangle his date while one of his Memphis buddies watches, the third photo is Elvis on his Harley.)

  1. be honest: IN THE LIMELIGHTS BROUGHT HIM HAPPINESS?
    that’s why folks!!

  2. And who cares about this uneducated dope head anymore?

  3. I met E when he was 27 years old, when his face and bod were nothing short of perfection. (this was about 3 months after making Blue Hawaii). He rented a movie theatre in Memphis and I dated a friend of the man that worked on E’s cars and we were invited. He sat 2 rows in front of me and after it was over he greeted everyone outside and made small talk. The movie sucked, but meeting the handsomest man with the best voice on earth was a time to remember.

  4. You may love him, you may hate him, you may be neutral.
But, no one can name any name whereby for 30 years untold thousands come from around the world in January for his birthday and August for his death. Not Sinatra, not Dean Martin, not Judy Garland, not Marilyn Monroe, not any past president, Elvis is the only one, and it always makes world-wide news.
His empire is still drawing in major bucks and is still helping the poor. Most of all, he did not fall for Scientology the way Pris and Lisa did.

  5. Janet, you need to be a little more contemporary. Elvis has been dead since the 70’s.

  6. Janet please stay with the times. This is a gossip site not the history channel.

  7. I love seeing the old pictures, Elvis was gorgeous but it’s his music I like, awesome

  8. Those Elvi pictures are GREAT. He was so handsome.

  11. After reading the comments on the Elvis pictures, it reminds me of the controversy that has always been around him. Those who loved him and those who thought less of him. His music and style broke down the door and gave teenagers their own everything that has not stopped for over 50 years. Even he did not know why he was the one, what would it be like if this revolution did not happen – I’m glad it did!
