We couldn’t help being impressed by Emma Thompson’s good heart. We didn’t know that five years ago she “adopted” a sixteen year old boy who was a homeless Rwandan refugee. She brought him home to live with her family and has been paying for his education. The young man (pictured above) named Tindyebwa Agaba, is now in his second year at Emma’s alma mater, Cambridge University , aiming toward a degree in politics. He plans to become a lawyer and return to his country. Generous Emma gave him a life.

  1. I’ve always liked her.
    She’s a great lady!
    Talented and kind.

  2. Wow what a wonderful story. That is such an amazing thing she did.

  3. What a wonderful thing for her to do. Now that’s class!

  4. Hey Angelina Jolie, you baby-buying, self-promoting phony: this is how you do it. You don’t use homeless orphans as publicity stunts. You simply open your heart, your home and your wallet to a needy person, and you shut your mouth. Bravo to you, Emma Thompson!

  5. What a great story and what a great lady. I’m curious as to why Janet put “adopted” in quotation marks. Is he not really adopted?

  6. Emma is a wonderful lady and a true talent. Tindyebwa is a special young man-his entire outlook is to use his talents and blessings to help others.
All the best to them both.

  7. It’s easy to be a humanitarian when you are filthy rich. It’s also good PR.

  8. Oh that’s nice of her and all that…but she most likely got him a scholarship from some movie studio. Or, could this be a photo-op? Or, who knows, except it is super-boring.

  9. This boy looks abit like MICHAEL JACKSON in his early days, NOT?

  10. This is an old story, but heartwarming none the less. Good work Emma!
