EVEN OSCAR NOMINATED MOVIES LACK IMPORTANT FEMALE CHARACTERS

And now, something for our feminist readers…have you heard of The Bechdel Test for Women in Movies? This video test examines the 2011 Oscar nominated movies to see how they measure up in regard to women’s representation in film. It’s quite startling how far women have NOT come in regard to relevance in films in spite of the fact that they make up way more than half of the movie-going audience. The intro in the video is a bit tedious but hang in there – the results are disturbing.

  1. Sounds like the carping of a bitter woman. Plenty of female characters are in important movies. The complainers want more lesbians out there spouting their hate and the public doesn’t. Very simple. Sounds like a bandwagon developing for Hillary, the true lesbian of the year.

  2. Most movies are totally geared towards Women. That ‘Twilight’ garbage, ‘Titanic’ etc. All for young women to blow their parent’s cash on.

  3. SO WHAT. What’s the point? Who cares? It is of no importance how many “female characters” are in the movies. Are we women really so weak of mind that we need to validated by hollywood? really?
