EYDIE GORME AND STEVE LAWRENCE WERE LAS VEGAS PIONEERS WITH THE RAT PACK

The late Eydie Gorme and her husband Steve Lawrence guested on just about every TV variety show in the 1960’s when they weren’t appearing in Las Vegas. Their “easy listening” cocktail music like “Blame it on the Bossa Nova” delighted parents who hated rock n roll. They were pals with Sinatra, and Eydie died at the age of 84 in Las Vegas this weekend.

  1. My heart aches for Steve. I’m sure it is like losing part of his soul. They were such a great team.

  2. PLEASE tell me they really loved each other as much as they seemed to.

  3. I just love them. One of the few marriages in Hollywood that lasted, and without scandal.

  4. This couple harks back to a time when there was decency in show business. Steve and Eydie were hot when I was a child, so I don’t remember them well, but my mother loved them. I wish we could go back to this kind of family friendly entertainment. I am so sick of the anything goes bullsh!t that passes for entertainment nowadays. No dignity, no class.

  5. I also grew up in New York (Brooklyn) and am not that much younger than Steve (who graduated from the same high school as me). This was such a great couple – and I do believe they were truly happy. They were interviewed by Larry King several years ago – and I emailed them – telling them they were both “treasures”. Such great talents. This is the way Show Biz was years ago. I’ve been very sad since losing Eydie. This was my generation — and people like them are not being replaced.

  6. I sat in front of my 9inch b/w tv and watched them in 1953. My dad worked for Ed Sullivan for a brief time, and I watched them in preparation. I can’t believe the difference in the last 60 years in music, help!
