Many of us were entertained by the movie American Gangster this weekend, but did you realize that the movie is stuffing the wallet of the druglord Frank Lucas, who was portrayed by Denzel Washington in the movie? The Harlem heroin dealer was convicted before there was a law banning criminals from profiting from their crimes. So far Lucas has pocketed at last $800,000 from the movie and a sequal is being discussed. Ironically the film glamorizes Lucas as a family oriented brilliant businessman with a “code of honor” surrounded by “dirty” cops. In actuality, Lucas was far from an honorable man – he manipulated his relatives into working for him, callously put out a contract on his own brother, couldn’t read and could barely count. Even Lucas admits “only 20 % of the film is true.”
I like Denzel, but he pretty much acts the same way in all his movies. Just intense. I think that Russell Crowe is the better actor, maybe not such great impulse control, but the better actor none the less.

The film doesn’t glamorize him. It shows how successful he became but also how cold and cruel he was, his own family included.
The film is overly long and tries to be too many things
Of course we do understand the black heart communist motives of praising the evil ones of the world.. If Julia Roberts and Denzel are involved, it’s sure to support drug sellers, killers, anti-freedom, anti-establishment, Hate America liberal motives to kill true democracy and Godly morals, which these idiot stars really want in place to keep themselves safe and happy. Oxymorons. So, that is why no one with a brain goes to these ‘socialist training’ movies anymore and Hollywood is weeping over the lost revenues.

it was a good movie, I think russell crowe was completely miscast, everytime I looked at his fat butt I felt like I could breathe all his pants looked too tight on him. that thing between his eyes is very distracting and he is a good actor but denzel is way better. you can tell he is a classy guy.

Denzel portrayed a ruthless man who didn’t care about taking lives if necessary in order to make money, and in the end hurting alot of people through his art of manipulation for the love of money, which is the root of every evil thing imaginable. In the end Frank Lucas lost the most precious things a man could behold, many were killed, incarcerated and betrayed because of the love and greed for money. What happened to all the money and the drugs the law enforcement confiscated?
They are all crooks! The bad and the good. The good has the upper hand (it takes longer to catch them…)
I wonder if Lucas relatives can get their own television shows and become celebrities like the Gotti Family has.

Morons! actors get paid to entertain us and Frank Lucas gets paid to tell his story. We pay to see the movie for entertainment and for those who thinks they can act better than Denzel and Crowe. Why aint’ you in any movies then ? No difference than Wallmart’ and other money makers employing under paid staff with no benefits to make millions and thats how you profit- gotta do somethin’

Gotta give Frank Lucas credit for turning his life around…..his smart enough and have connections to continue to be a drug lord. Some of us are not fortunate enuf that you have to do somethin that you may not be proud of…years ago-this is the white mans’ world and its tuff to be a minority..glad its much better now…and for those parents who maybe concern of drugs and the kids….just make sure that you give your child the best love, support and locked up your bad kids..grounding your bad kids is better than a dead kid from o.d’ing from drugs…gotta do all you can…tough love…
and for those rich fuckers!! the drug lords hits the rich schools..so dont spoil your kids..make them appreciate what they got….make some time for your kids….otherwise, you wouldnt even know….
The Movie started off Humble and of course he was taking care of his family and friends and people he loved and gather many things as time moved on and the problem is that he wanted to stay in the game too long…Instead of letting some one else take over Greed took over and wanting too much..Becoming a Pig who throw up and ate his own vomit…!!!but what really pissed me off..Was the fact this man had so much money…HE COULD NOT SPEND IT ALL??? This is a greedy Pig and He should had left the game and lived a stress free easy life and gather no more worry…But this man pushed too far and lost everything.
