Bea Arthur’s death sneaked up on us – we didn’t realize she was sick. We have many fond memories of watching “The Golden Girls” on Saturday night while getting dressed to go out. That is how we want to remember her – as Dorothy, sitting in the kitchen with her roommates, having cheesecake late at night or over breakfast, discussing Blanche’s promiscuity. These “girls” made retirement in Miami seem like fun.
It’s a horrible thing to see my favorite ladies of television pass away one by one. let’s hope rue & betty hang in there for a good while to come. may she rest in peace.
People used to tease her about her looks, but I actually thought she was pretty good looking in her shows.
I love Betty White, hope she really hangs in there a while, she seems she’s doing really good, she comes on Jay Leno all the time, and I love it!!
I loved the Golden Girls….never understood why they cancelled it. They had a large audience of young and old and were still going strong. Bea, hopefully you are with the LORD.

I was so shocked by this! There wasn’t anything written about her being sick, so that makes this doubly hard to take. She had some of the best lines of anybody in The Golden Girls, and that voice really drove her point home. *SIGH* Bea, thank you so much for the years of laughs you gave us. You will be so missed. I hope you’re making God laugh now.
“The Golden Girls” was never canceled…Bea Arthur did not want to do the show anymore, so it ended. Remember, “The Golden Palace?” The rest of the girls wanted to stay on, and that was why that show was created.

She was talented and funny. But I was alarmed at how painfully thin she looked on the Pamela Anderson Roast on Comedy Central — which I think first aired two (or maybe 3) years ago. The news that she had cancer was therefore not surprising, but her death is a loss to all who love to laugh.
How I loved this show, and especially Bea. Her wit, sarcasm, dry humor; she was my favorite Golden Girl. I will be so sad now every time I catch a rerun. You gave a lot of people many laughs, Bea. RIP.
@ 10:34 AM, Anonymous. If Bea and Estelle are in heaven, they are not angels. They are spirit and soul there. When the trumpet sounds (Rapture), the graves will be opened, and their corruptible bodies will be changed to incorruptible. The soul/spirit will meet Jesus in mid air, be changed, and continue on to heaven. This will take place in less that one millimeter of a second. (See 1 Thess. 4: 13 through 18).

She was a good age and had a great career. God bless her. Arthur’s death has seemed to send out shock waves. I think that is because she was such a fixture on 70’s/80’s/90’s television, and in the lives of so many baby-boomers and post-boomers, who keep trying to distance themselves from old age and death. The saying “don’t cry for those who pass, but those they leave behind” never had so much meaning.
Um, Sebastian? SHE WAS 86. And as far as I know, people have been trying (with a remarkable lack of success!) to “distance themselves from old age and death” since long before the Boomers arrived on the scene. Yes, Bea Arthur was a fixture of the advertising delivery device known as TV for many years. She was very talented, sardonic, etc. And she was also *NEWSFLASH* mortal. That any group is supposedly witnessing her demise as some sort of “shock” is beyond ridiculous. But does seem to indicate that said group must have a lot of time on its hands.

We lost a wonderful talent this year….Bea Arthur. The Oscar’s might have forgotten Bea but I haven’t.
I found this clip of Miss Arthur’s final interview with Bea discussing her career in her own words. The clip also shows Betty White, Carol Channing and Phyllis Diller. I think it’s for a show called, “Lunching with a Legend.”
I’d hate for a full interview with Bea or the other legendary ladies in the clip to go unseen.

I liked the fact she called Eminen a Douch’e bag…Though it was funny and yes she was funny as a actress on other shows and really tall and it seemed like she had a good life and massive friends and people really loved her. I know I Loved her. Because she was not like any one I Have ever seen.
