GOSSIP GIRL LEIGHTON MEESTER HAS A FAMILY SECRET

Leighton Meester’s success as Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl is all the more amazing when you consider where she came from. According to the National Enquirer, Leighton was born while her mother was DOING TIME in the federal prison in Fort Worth, Texas! Her mother, her aunt, and her grandfather were all arrested as part of a drug ring that smuggled thousands of pounds of marijuana from Jamaica to the US. The operation netted 250 million a year. At least one murder was attributed to the ring – a pilot with a pay dispute. Leighton’s aunt and grandfather served seven years, while her mother was sentenced to ten years, but paroled in less than a year and a half. Eventually they put it all behind them and moved to New York and Leighton’s modeling career took off.
