HAPPY TRAILS TO ROY ROGERS, KING OF THE COWBOYS

We’ve had a crush on Roy Rogers since childhood and thought we’d pay tribute to the cowboy star, who would have been 100 years old on November 5. Before his career peaked in western movies, Roy cleverly had it written into his contract that he owned the rights to his likeness, voice, and name for merchandising. He did it all before the Kardashians. Roy Rogers games, action figures, lunch boxes, books, comics, clothing etc. flooded the market and kids lapped it up. Rogers was second only to Walt Disney in the amount of items featuring his name, so he was an early marketing genius. We always thought he was the best dressed cowboy and envied all those gorgeous elaborately fringed shirts…

Roy was a California surfer boy and a successful singer on Sons of the Pioneers before pictures. He did much good and in no way was a Kardashian or Lopez fame whore:

Clint Black looks so much like him. They did a video together several years ago. That was pretty cool.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but, thank you Strom for posting the Roy Rogers/Clint Black video. Some hysterical footage from old cowboy movies.

I always loved Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. Reminds me of the little cowgirl costume I had when I was young. I must admit though, I always hated that he had Trigger stuffed.

The best thing about Roy Rogers and Dale Evans is they were committed Christians. They had faults, of course, but they did not fall to the corruptions of this world. So now they are kicking up gold dust on the streets of gold.

    BLIND_ITEM_NEW_#CUT

One of America’s Sweethearts is battling a serious drug addiction- not hers, but her best friend’s. Through the years these two have been stuck to one another like white on rice and her fame rubbed off on her pal. They’ve been roomies, have worked together on set, and even launched a business venture together. But all that success has come with a price. After years of being sober, the less famous friend has fallen HARD off the wagon and our gal doesn’t know what to do. She’s hosted an intervention, hired an addiction specialist, and even threatened to end the friendship, but nothing seems to work. What’s a girl to do?
