We got a big kick out of this video of the Merv Griffin show in 1966. The as yet unknown ill-fated actress Sharon Tate took Merv on a tour of Carnaby Street and Kings Row in London at the height of the mod revolution. They marvel at the mini- skirts and seem puzzled by the rapidly changing colorful world around them. Even Merv tries to look a little mod.

  1. My mom and I watched the Merv Griffin show from 1966 thru the last show – and enjoyed it so much. He was a great interviewer and he had interesting guests. You felt like you were sitting on the stage with them. Unfortunately, it came out about his unusual sexual preference in his later years, which ruined a lot for me. But – he never got the recognition he deserved. Thanks Merv.

  2. Poor beautiful Sharon Tate. She was tortured by the rat Roman Polanski’s infidelity, which she knew about. She probably had no idea what a true sicko he really is. I don’t understand how her family, or her surviving sister at least, can take up for him and defend him in the case where he raped that young girl.

  3. Sometimes Janet, you come up with the most amazing photos/videos. I don’t remember Merv Griffin every being so young, and Sharon Tate was lovely and very charming. What happened to her (her baby) and her friends was horrifying.

  4. so that’s where the idea of the Beverly Hilton comes from?

  5. @darksided – probably due to the mind control she was subjected to.
