IS IT HYDE – OR THE GOVERNOR'S BALL?

The Academy of Motion Pictures has always been offended by the fact that after the Oscar ceremony, the Governor’s Ball is not well attended. Everybody seems to rush off to fashionable parties around town and they often skip the Ball. Celebrities who DO attend the Ball often do so only long enough to pose for photographs and maybe nibble an appetizer. In spite of the fact that the academy spends a fortune on the Ball and has Wolfgang Puck in the kitchen, the turnout is not so impressive. So this year they decided to make the extravagant event more like a hip club. Lots of couches and seating areas and bars, and NO MORE of those formal sit down dinner tables – instead, buffet tables manned by chefs. More casual and fun is a good idea – but parties like Vanity Fair are still a hard act to beat.

  1. Sounds like too much money is wasted on spoiled celebrities. Here’s a crazy idea: donate the food & money to the homeless!

  2. I’m with you babygreens! These celeb’s are rich enough to buy their own food an drinks. And all that swag they get… just auction it off on Ebay for charity.

  3. Here’s another idea: don’t bother having “the ball” if people don’t want to attend. Would you throw a party every year if your “friends” didn’t show? Throw in the towel, folks.

  4. Good Idea 3.11.It seems like this is one party that was over years ago.And for them now to try and get hip is much like your aunt Esther trying to throw a chill party.Lame Idea……Oh No!
